Title: name change (nys and Michigan )

I am wondering how i go about changing my name (will be doing it at same time as my last since ill be getting married and will be taking on my husbands to be name) i am a resident of new York state but I was born in Michigan. Would i go through Michigan or new York for the name?

You do the court ordered name change in your home state and then file with michigan for your birth certificate. I am in the process roght now but i live in michigan born in california.
