Title: How Do I know what type of Bra I need let alone size?
Post by: Shawn Sunshine on March 17, 2015, 10:35:11 PM
:icon_blink:  I am still confused, as this will be my first time looking into wearing bras. I wore one once in my 20s but it was one time and a girl gave it to me.

So first things first, now i did go into Lane Bryant in 2012 to get a measure and they said I was a 50B at the time. But I have lost weight and gained up top a little. So what is a sure fire way to know?

2nd thing is I want to know what type of bra is good for me and my frame, and what I should absolutely never wear.  :icon_help: :icon_chick:

What I did was go to crossdresser.com and use their sizing tool to figure out my size. The size it gives me is a little tight, so I normally bump it up a couple inches. I don't know about cup size. I guessed on that one. That site does offer suggestions and visuals on the size of them though.

I bought some cheapies from Kmart/Target (in Australia) to test... I had a rough idea and used the "cheapies" to confirm (actually still have a couple as they are soooo comfortable, these are the 14B's) Can also get away 12B's (sorry 34B's) depending on brand  ;)

As for type, it depends on what you want to wear them under. Personally I go for plunge lines when wearing anything V neck or semi plunge, balconette bras for low necklines, and full or stitch-less for under sweaters and under tees for the latter...

Works for me, Hope that helps

I bought a few cheap ones and settled on one or two that are right for me. I'm not really buying expensive ones until I grow into my (more or less) final size. I am 34B but it's getting tight now and I'll probably be a C very soon. I used to wear 36A but it hovers over my chest now and just looks odd. But I keep it for when I am doing laundry and washing all the others. :)

Oh, and the online calculators are way, way off.

I don't have a need for one yet, but I am hopeful. I started out with a couple of sports bras. Those are easier to size (just S/M/L/XL).
