Title: Facial feminization and hairlines question
Post by: ChiGirl on March 22, 2015, 07:22:49 PM
Hi, Everyone,
I've been debating on this so I thought I should ask people who know better.  I don't know if I want FFS down the road, but I might.  However, my hairline and hair needs is a much more pressing issue.  There's a hair restoration place near me that specifically works with transgender clients to restore hair and create feminine hairlines.  So I'm stoked about that.

However, I always here you should do FFS first then hairline.  If I did the hair now and I only wanted the nose and brow worked on later, would that affect the new hairline?  Just trying to plan things.  If push comes to shove, I'd rather pick my hair over FFS.

Thanks!

in order to gain access to the brow, the surgeon will need to make and incision along your hairline, and then drape the tissue down to expose the bone. And typically there is hair loss around the incision sites.  So, yes it would be advantageous to hold off on getting hair transplants until after having the brow surgery, but, if you would rather have the hair transplants now, and forgo brow surgery in the future, or have it done later on, and choose to have hair replaced as needed, you can do that too.

Thanks!  That's what I was thinking was the case, but I figured, why not ask!

What Kittenpower said.

I had FFS with Dr Z.  If you need forehead work, hair transplants can wait.  Or at least, find out where they will make the incision and the cut. YOu can do some fill in work after that.

He's doing a 3000 transplant thing in July.

Hugs,

Jen

As bad as I want to get started with my hair restoration I decided to do my FFS first... I had about 5/8-3/4 inch of my very bald "hairline" resected and a scalp advance done with my brow reconstruction/lift... It makes sense to do the transplants after and cover the scar and not have to worry about losing new hair... In my case I cant spare any at all :'(  One thing I notice with the scalp advance though is since my scalp is so much tighter my density seems lower... There truly is no such thing as a free lunch :-\  Im planning to wait at least 6 months after FFS before starting the transplants... Now I have to decide if I want FUT or FUE, Id hate to have to shave the donor area for FUE but with the tightness of my scalp after the advance and a full face and neck lift I might have to go with FUE... I just hate the idea of getting my head shaved and waiting for it to grow back :(   Ive been wearing a wig for so long its not that hard to wait ;) But it is hard :'(
