Title: Consult with Dr Medalie, what should I expect?

Hey everyone! I paid for my consult with Dr Medalie a couple weeks ago. When I spoke to his secretary she told me he was out of town til the 30th and I would hear from him soon after he returned. I'm really hoping to hear back by early next week. What should I expect from this initial consult? Will it be via email? I know he will be letting me know the type of surgery and price. Should I ask questions at this time? What kinds of questions? I'm just so unbelievably excited this is happening I'm not sure what to do!!

Hey Kam! Congrats on your upcoming consult with Dr. Medalie, I just had surgery with him on the 16th and he is great! The consult is pretty much the same no matter how it's done. I live in Ohio so I had mine in person, but I believe if you are out of state, you send him your photos via email then have your consult over the phone. It will be pretty short, mine was maybe 20 minutes. He just tells you which type of surgery he feels is the best fit for you and why, gives you a rundown on pricing and financing if you need to use CareCredit, and asks if you have any questions. You'll get the official price quote in the mail closer to surgery, and you can schedule your actual surgery date after you've had your consult. I didn't really have any questions for him at the time, but you can always email him or Valerie if you think of any. His office is very good about getting back to you. Best of luck!!

Yes, agreed with Konnor. They are really good at responding to your emails, not only his secretary, Medalie himself also respond to emails quickly, if you email directly to him, there was even a time that i emailed his secretary and he replied directly.

Hey thanks for the replies! And Konnor congrats on your recent surgery! I sent in my photos a couple weeks ago and am hoping he's just backed up a bit on consults because he was out of town and will hear back from him by early next week. I assume I'll receive an email stating what surgery he could perform with the price and then from there I could call with any questions and to pay to schedule my actual surgery. Do either of you know if that's right?

Thanks man!! I'm super pleased with my results this far and the entire experience with Dr. Medalie.
He will probably give you a ballpark number during your consult. You don't get the packet with the final price and some other info until like a month or two before surgery. They will call you to pick your surgery date once his calendar opens up. They call people in the order they had their consults. So for example, I had my consult in December, they called me to schedule in January, and the earliest date available when I scheduled was mid March. That seems like a pretty typical timeline for him because he is so popular. Expect not to schedule for a month after your consult, and for surgery to be about 2 months later. They will also call you about two weeks prior to surgery to get your payment info. He requires you to be paid in full by two weeks before your surgery date. You won't need to do anything after your consult except wait for them to call you. Hope this helps!
