Title: medroxyprogesterone update
Post by: Jaz650 on April 03, 2015, 11:35:27 AM
I've been on spironolactone, and estradiol for nine years, and two weeks ago my doctor prescribed medroxyprogesterone due to an increase in my T levels. I was really nervous because I've read of it's terrible side effects. However, it has been nothing, but wonderful to me. My mood is amazing, no sex drive, just an overall feeling of well-being. Awesome medication for myself.

Two weeks is probably not enough to ascertain that there are no side effects, it's good that you're feeling great though :)

For me, the biggest change when I started with HRT was definitely how I just felt... right to myself. Even if I have dysphoria from many body traits still, not only do I know I'm doing the right thing, I emotionally just feel like I've always been supposed to be.

Being liberated from that insane male sex drive must've been wonderful as well, at least for me it was.

Even if you don't experience depression from it OR slight androgenic effects due to it triggering androgen receptors, based on what I've come across (i.e. clinical studies), it does seem to have a detrimental effects on blood vessels, appears to increase the risk of DVT and also, the risk of breast cancer. For these reasons alone, I wouldn't take it personally. Just my 2 cents...Not telling you what to do, just expressing my opinion on the matter. ;)
