I think, anyway..
at the end of the movie Pleasantville, the protagonist is back to his own reality (or set), and his mom is having a bad time, everything hasn't gone according to plan in her life, now she's 40 yrs old.
INT. Dusk - the dining room table,
Mom:
"it isn't supposed to be like this"
David/'Bud':
"there isn't supposed to be anything"
