Title: Wrist size?
Post by: lemons on April 08, 2015, 11:50:54 AM

I've heard wrist size determines body frame. As I feel I have a really big body frame for a woman, I'm wondering if at 6 feet if I just can't pass with my bone structure. Wondering if other people have the same issue.
My wrist size measures at 7 inches or about 18.5 cm if I put the measuring tape as tight as I can.
When the measuring tape is relaxed it seems to be more like 7.5 inches....but that seems way too big for a woman. :(

I am 5'6" and mine is 7.5"
My wife is 5'9" and hers is 7"
I don't see that as a correlation to body frame of a woman. I have seen plenty of cis women with 'man hands' in my time. They are still women. ;)
Don't box yourself in.

I'm thinking that the breadth of the elbow might be a better determination of approximate frame size.

(6'7" with 7.5 inch wrist) I was with my sister in FL and we were shopping together. She found 10 bangles for $8. They were too small for me. The clerk asked if I would like a set as well and I told her they were too small. We started talking and she was about 5'6" and she had the same problem. Her wrist were the same size as mine, but I thought her body frame was on the smaller side. So I'm not sure about the whole wrist size determining body frame size. I think it varies from person to person.

7" is a standard women's bracelet size, so I have to assume it's not uncommon. :)
I'm about 7" myself, and my wife is 6.5". It's not like that difference is noticeable to the naked eye of the average person, either. There definitely are large-framed cis women. Odds are pretty good that wrist size will not be what outs someone! (And yes, I blend in fine and haven't been misgendered since about six months into HRT.)
My wife also has 22" shoulders and I'm 16" or so... again, there are sturdily built cis women, and it doesn't sound like you're out of the realm of typical.

My wrist is a bit under 7in and I'm 6'1". Basically the wrists=body frame size is asinine. Your body frame equals your body frame size.

I'm 6.5" (little less than 16.5cm) at 6 feet. I think I have overall very average built for a woman, maybe on a slightly smaller side, considering my height. I've heard that wrist-bodyframe relation before, but I don't think it works for everybody.

I'm 5'4" with 5.5" wrists. While I would love to have a frame that matches that, my frame is a little on the large side for a woman my size. Thankfully, it seems like rib cages and shoulders are somewhat malleable and they are slowly getting smaller as I lose muscle and fat. Strangely enough, I've met some women who have said that they would kill to have my shoulders so maybe I'm going about things wrong and I should be focusing on keeping muscle instead of losing it.

I'm 6'2" and have 8+ inch wrists. Nobody reads me as male anymore. My cis wife is almost as big in the wrist department and 5'11". She also normally gets read as female.
I wouldn't worry about things you can't control. Focus on what you can do with what you have to work with, and the scales will tip into the "F" zone. Mannerisms, beard removal, voice, makeup, clothing and hair really do go a long way.

Lemons, its the overall package that people will see not just your wrist size or your shoulder or your neck.
Learn how to dress well, balance the lower half of your body by using more colorful/printed pants or A line skirts if you have an inverted triangle frame like most trans women are. Avoid boat necks or spaghetti straps as they will make your shoulders longer and you would look like a line backer.
I'm 5'6, 6 in wrist and I blend in well and I don't get misgendered.
Love,
April

5'6.5" and a hair above 6" wrists. My right one is a bit bigger about 1/8". They were larger but they shrank with weight loss and HRT and they may shrink further.
And like Ainsley I pass until I talk. However I am insecure about my hands. I think they are too big and tough.

Yes I know, and it is such a travesty because I've such a cute lil' freckle on each, but I'm mostly concerned that some folks may deprive themselves of observing my cute lil' toes when I wear sandals :D

It's reinforced with metal and pins. I could probably smash through a pile of bricks with it, kung-fu style!

My wrists look small because of my extra-large hands and big forearms. Those are the least of my problems. :(
