Title: Estrofem and Diane
Post by: Wendy on August 30, 2007, 02:27:46 PM
My body tolerates Estrofem and Spiro.; however, since my lower parts are intact it seems progress may be hindered.

Diane 35 contains a strong combo of Cypro. and Ethinyl. which might be beneficial if taken for a short time.

Any comments on a combo of  Estrofem, Spiro and Diane?

If used, did anyone experience any undesirable side effects?

Thanks.

One side question:  Estrofem is taken sublingually.  How long is the tab to stay under the tongue?  (I think it lasts about one minute under my tongue before it dissolves.  That seems too short.)

Avoid Ethinil, not worth it; the risk of DVT skyrockets with it.

Better get your doctor to prescribe Androcur and split it, small doses are often sufficient for our use when used in conjuction with spiro. Why is only spiro not sufficient for your needs Wendy?

Thanks Keira.

My one grandmother had thrombosis and died of heart disease at 63.  My other grandparents also died of heart disease.

My potasium gets too high with too much Spiro and I get heart palpitations. Diane had a real small amount of  cypro to keep T in check.  The Spiro is real good for keeping blood pressure a little lower.

One drawback of Androcur is depression.  My depression is remarkably low without any medications and anxiety is unusually high.  Maybe I could see if the doctor thinks a small piece of Androcur would suffice.
..................

Probably Spiro and Estrofem are fine.  However since I have started exercising again which includes long walks and calisthenics (an hour per day) I expect my muscular structure will remain unchanged.  I lost a little over an inch from major muscle groups over two years with little exercise.  (That was one of my dumb decisions but it did  reduce some of the muscles.  I will now exercise regardless of muscle mass.)

I was not sure if spiro and estrofem continued to work without plumbing modifications.  I figured the body produced low levels of T and you would just reach a level of equilibrium and no progress.

Thanks again.

Keira I had some questions on Progesterone and I was going to open a new topic.

I was on Diane 35 and estrofem many years ago and they didn't do a thing..

Diane nova is evil, makes probably sense to avoid it.

Ethinyl estradiol is more potent but is much more dangerous than an equivalent dosage of estrofem.

If you want cyproterone acetate then taking androcur rather than Diane nova makes sense. The depressive effects vary by invidual and may go away after some weeks on androcur. Androcur can also be hard on the liver and have other nasty effects...

Please review the hrt rule as this is in specific violation of it.

Quote8. The discussion of hormone replacement therapy(HRT) and it's medications are permitted, with the following limitations:

A. Advocating for or against a specific medication or combinations of medications for personal gain is strictly prohibited.
B. Discussing the means to acquire HRT medications without a prescription, and self medication without a doctors care is prohibited.
C. Discussing dosages is strongly discouraged to prevent information obtained on this site from being used to self medicate.

We can not in good conscience condone the self administering of these medications. Not only may self medication be illegal, but HRT medications can cause serious health problems, and many have the potential for life-threatening side effects that can only be detected and prevented with proper medical supervision.

Diane-35 specifically is why we added 8a to the Terms of Service.

No sane or competent doctor would prescribe this acne medication/contraceptive as a medication for HRT in Male to Female Transsexuals. I have in the past banned mention of this specific drug, and I think it's time we do it again... A Google search only finds this drug mentioned in health warnings, self medication forums, and on online pharmacies.

Canada
Quote
One example of a drug that has been advertised in Canada is Diane-35 (cyproterone and estra-diol).
  • Diane-35 is associated with a greater risk of potentially fatal blood clots than other estrogen-progestin drugs and has also been associated with liver cancer.
  • it has not been approved in Canada for birth control.
  • it has only been approved for use in women with severe acne that has been unresponsive to other treatments.
  • it has been heavily advertised to teenaged girls for off-label use (the girls pictured in the Diane35 ads clearly do not have severe acne).
  • This is blatantly illegal advertising.

Excerpt from a Canadian scientific study...

QuoteDiane-35 is approved only as therapy for androgen-sensitive skin conditions, including hirsutism and severe acne unresponsive to oral antibiotic therapy.4 Treatment with Diane-35 should be discontinued 3–4 menstrual cycles after a woman's skin condition has resolved.4,5 Warnings to minimize a woman's exposure to the drug result in part from the association with venous thromboembolic disease...

What to do: Diane-35 should be reserved for temporary use in women with serious acne and should not be used solely as an oral contraceptive. All women who use combination oral contraceptives are at risk of venous thromboembolism and should be informed of this rare but potentially serious adverse effect, particularly if they are taking Diane-35.
New Zealand
QuoteFor example, when new serious risks were revealed through research into 3rd generation oral contraceptives, Diane-35, and HRT, the Ministry of Health, and other agencies such the New Zealand Guidelines Group and consumer organisations bore the cost of promulgating the new information to consumers.

So again discussing Diane-35 is not acceptable on this forum. Take it elsewhere.
