Title: Estrogen or Progesterone?
Post by: fitzyfoop on April 14, 2015, 07:49:10 AM
Hi! More questions from me. From the experiences of people who have taken these one of these two, or both of them, which yields better results? I have read that in some cases, Progesterone can be safer than Estrogen, and also yields better results, as in better breast development and the person taking it becoming curvier than peers that took E.

If there's another discussion about this, feel free to put a link in a reply!

You want to feminize your body? You'll need estrogen and testosterone levels in normal female range.

While progesterone can be helpful addition to HRT regimen to some, it does nothing for others, and to some only unwanted side effects. It really depends.

You don't want to be on progesterone only, estrogen needs to be part of the mix. Speak to a qualified doctor about what is best for you - please do not medicate based on breast growth hearsay.

I second that. Only get medical advice from a doctor. Taking hormones on your own is horribly dangerous.

Apart from the standard advice of "see a doctor" (which you should and you are going to), taking estradiol (estrogen) has a number of benefits, such as suppressing testosterone which you also want to do.

Your doctor will likely prescribe both testosterone blocker and an estrogen. Some initially start with one but not the other. Some prescribe progesterone in addition but not all do.

Your doctor will check your blood pressure and do blood work to make sure you have no conditions that could be exacerbated by the hormones. That doesn't mean it will preclude you, just that they may adjust it accordingly to work around your conditions. In my case they dialed back my other blood pressure meds and replaced it with spironolactone which actually works quite well.

Estrogen and Testesterone blockers are the only way to get feminization (generally), progesterone can't on its own, however depending on what you read it has some benefits in conjunction with E.

Remember Progesterone is a hormone associated with the ovarian cycle and menstruation in CIS women
