Good afternoon guys and dolls.
What's your all time favorite movie?
One only - your favorite of your favorites. Two only if you can't possibly choose.
And why?

Oh that's SO hard...
I guess The Shawshank Redemption if I HAD to pick just one.
But I gotta sneak The Matrix and V For Vendetta in there too, as all three illustrate the same theme for me... of Transition.

Blade Runner is one because the music is simply one of the best. Also, I love space and the future. I can watch this movie anytime.
The Good, The Bad and the Ugly is my other favorite. Again, the music is amazing, but also because the movie is nice and slow with great periods of action. Tuco, the ugly, is one of the best characters of all time. He is very real and I feel a kinship to him. I can go for hours talking about TGBU, but let's just say that I have it running a lot.
There are no other two movies that I can watch over and over.

I have to pick two... Both equaly... I consider these to be the two greatest movies of all time... And most of my friends <and even my messed up family> concours hehe.
The Princess Bride... Comeon people... show me a movie with better story telling, romance, action, comedy... Really it hits allmost all points... True love conquers all :)
The Boondock Saints.... When good irish go bad.. or did they? Yeah, there nuts for becomeing the vengeful hand of god... But comeon... everyone has though of doing it... Wipe out the filth of the earth... The Mobsters and Mafiosos, Murders, rapists and so on... no judge, no jurry. They will send you to any god you choose ;) And shepards we shal be, for thee my lord for thee. Power decended forth from thy hand, so swiftly shal we cary out thy comand. And we shal flow a river forth unto thee, and teeming with souls shal it ever be. *latin ending prayr that I cant spell*
Its violent, funny, and has more swearing than most can stand... Its freaking awsome XD

1. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - love it! It's quirky, romantic, funny, actually makes sense after a few viewings and it's a good movie to discuss. I own it and still watch it many times.
2. Dumb and Dumber - absolutely hilarious, love it, love it, love it! ;D I own it as well and have watched it about 50 times!

1. Harvey
2. Room to Rent - It's about this writer who keeps getting kicked out of flats because he finds himself writing strange filmscripts based on what is happening around him. He nearly marries a Marlyn Monroe impersonator for visa reasons and then of course ends up marrying a blind octogenrian who believes that he is the reincarnation of her boyfriend. What makes it great instead of just funny is that he falls in love back.

I have not heard any one mention this movie. But it was pretty cute "To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar" It is a movie about three lost drag queens (sorry if that is not the proper term.) What made it so good is it did not confuse transexuals with Drag queens. They have a scean where they even state the differences of each. And call me crazy but a movie that has Wesley Snipes, Patrick Swayze, and John Leguizamo all dressed up is awsome. + Leguizamo is soooo cute dressed up. Also The Matrix was awsome. I <3 Trinity.

A few good ones people chose that I would agree with...
Blade Runner
Princess Bride
Boondock Saints
My Fair Lady
But for me, and maybe cause I am a bit picky,
My Favorite is Lawrence of Arabia.
If I had to pick a runner up.

Nero, you always ask the toughest questions :) I mean, keep it to two, that's soooo hard to do, but here goes:
1) Manic - Love the story, love the dialogue and mostly love the way the music, camerawork and story weave together.
2) wow, this is harder than I thought...it was a toss up but I'm going to go with a movie called "All The Real Girls" for the same exact reason as #1.
Next time give us like 5 movies Nero :)

It's so hard to pick a favorite. It would be easier to list favorites in each genre.
I led discussions at our senior citizens gathering last week on these three movies:
Jesus Camp (documentary)
Birdcage (comedy/drama)
The Fog of War (documentary)
All three very good and very thoughtful. they may not be the best in their genre but still very good.

Willi Wonka and the Chocolate Factory... the original w/Gene Wilder, is corny, crazy, yet filled with hope (plus, there are times when you just can't get enough chocolate) ;)
There are several others that I really enjoy... but that one keeps coming to the top. Is one of those movies I can watch regardless of what mood I'm in.

It's a Wonderful Life
The Thin Man
Breathless
Breakfast at Tiffanys
Godfather 1
Harold & Maude
Taxi Driver
Annie Hall
Breakfast Club
Blue Velvet
Pulp Fiction
Fight Club
Hedwig and the Angry Inch
I think I left a bunch out, but that is a pretty eclectic list. I'm looking forward to the new Todd Haynes movie where Cate Blanchette plays Bob Dylan.

Underworld and Underworld Evolution are my two favorites, but there are so many great movies I can't possibly be held to that statement. I definately second the motion that we need a longer list. I mean come on:
All three Matrix's, All three Blades, Braveheart, The Last Samurai, definately The Princess Bride, Robin Hood: Men in Tights (anything produced by Mel Brooks for that matter), Batman Begins, V for Vendetta, Hitch, The original Star Wars trilogy, etc., etc.. Blah, I could go on and on... Wait, does that cement my place as an official nerd? Maybe I should retract my list...

All time Favorite?
Only one?
Ghost in the Shell.
That movie has been so influential as part of my life.
I hardly ever watch it anymore, but it's influence stands.
If you've ever questioned your existance, and what it means to be you this movie you will probably like.
It takes at least two-three viewings of it to get it.
Usually more.
You will probably need to watch it dubbed.
and then several times subbed to really get all that is going on with her.
This is a very deep, subtle, and complex film.
The action is downright awesome too.
You will really aprecieate this film

Harvey - now that's a film wot sums life up.
"Years ago, my mother used to say to me, she'd say: 'In this world, Elwood,' she always used to call me Elwood. 'In this world, Elwood, you must be oh, so smart or oh, so pleasant.' Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. And you can quote me."

I believe that Godfather was the finest movie ever produced. The storyline, cinematography, music and acting were superb.
I think the original In Laws (with Peter Falk and Alan Arkin) is the funniest comedy ever. I crack up everytime I watch it.

Hard to decide. Right now I'm leaning toward The Neverending Story.
Although, The Prestige comes really close to being my favorite.

American Beauty
I'm the same kind of twisted as Alan Ball. I can watch it over and over and see something new every time. It's a close look at a family that has come to normal dysfunction until Kevin Space's character decides he can't stand his life anymore. Superb acting by all involved with a nod to Annette Benning, the equally frustrated housewife. As in all of Alan ball's more recent work, no one is saved. Six Feet Under is my favorite tv show of all time too.
See the trailer at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0169547/trailers-screenplay-M10067-310 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0169547/trailers-screenplay-M10067-310)

hmmmm...only 2 for a movie diva like me that is truly a hell trying to decide which movies i like above all others. I mean it is impossible cause you cant relay rate some movies better then others i.E "die hard" and "300"(as odd as it is since i do have a lil sexist against men. I am a lil turned on by dis movie XD) are my personal favorite 2 action movies but it would not be right to compare them to
"as good as it gets" and "jerry Maguire" my two favorite...big girl comedies :P
ooh ooh i know the one movie i could watch 24/7 and never get tired of is ~Jackie drums on a...drum~ Beautiful Boxer
and the movie i am looking forward to is dark knight. cause i am the biggest Quinn fan (known as a Quinniet) and joker fan there is.
sorry for the longf post but it would not be a jackie post if it wasn't :P
love ya sistahs and brrtahs,
Jaclin
P.S.much love for Heath Ledger he was a remarkable actor and one of my favorites i will miss him.

Yeah, salute to Heath Ledger.
I will miss him too.
And 300?
Yeah, that is aguilty pleasure even if they didn't portray them as accurate as they could have (THEY, were the boy lovers, not the Athenians.[although probably the Athenians too ;) )
I realy like that movie.
What a great film. The lighting is fantastic. Just great!
High contrast, Low Saturation, Low color.
Just awesome! Eerie and Awesome!
The camera angles were great and the action seemless and fluid.
What great angles.
And gaod, their bodies were huge! (OMG wow)

The original The Hitcher
Rutger Hauer is unbelievable as the crazy hitch hiker. It keeps you on the edge of your seat, and the way Jennifer Jason Liegh's caracter is killed at the end...
I have many others, but this stands out as my all time fav.
Kelly/Keri?

Hmm... Well, I know my sister's is Phantom Of The Opera, a good movie, but too much singing.
I'd have to say that one of my all-time favorites has to be Back To The Future. I'm not sure about my absolute favorite, but that ranks up there.

Lawrence of Arabia.
Not only is Seven Pillars of Wisdom one of my all time favorite books, the movie does a good job of showing how:
a) Things done for good reasons don't always have a good outcome
b) For proving Marge Simpson right when she said " "One person can change the world but most of the time you probably shouldn't."

Hedwig and the Angry Inch- Everything about this movie is gorgeous, and it has the best kiss scene in the world.
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou- just. Wow. Wow. I want to do Wes Anderson.
