Title: Hi everyone!

I have finally decided to break my silence after about eight months of lurking. My story is pretty standard for a middle aged MTF. Right now I am pre everything, except for one very telling realization. After ten years of panic attacks and being on beta blockers and tranquilizers, I can no longer claim to be a guy who has a little "thing" for womens' bikinis and short shorts and whatnot.
I learned that a little cross dressing lowered my blood pressure down to 110/70, and I was able to cut my beta blocker dose in half. Oh, and coming out to my wife and us watching the Bruce Jenner special helped a lot, too.
So yeah, I think I need to see a gender therapist in the near future.
Anyway, here I am. Hi, hello, and very happy to be here.
Carly

Hi CarlyMcx, welcome to Susans. It's wonderful to hear that you were able to come out to your wife. Yes, a therapist is often a wonderful help during our transition journey's. I look forward to seeing you around the site. Good luck and Hugs.

Welcome Carly! Your blood pressure drop demonstrates just how stressful holding years of being who you aren't in. It must have come to somewhat of a surprise to you even though you felt less stressed.
Good luck in finding a therapist who has worked with transgenders. Fortunately, they are more readily available now then they used to be.

Hi there,
I am in my mid 30s, but I am in a similar position. I realised I couldn't keep fighting this and hoping it would go away, as it obviously isn't.
I've been taking small steps. Going this forum has been a great help and there are some wonderful girls on here with plenty of wisdom and helpful advice. Joining made me realise that I wasn't alone in suffering this dysphoria.
I am starting with a psych next week and hopefully hrt soon.
