Title: how to deal with this stress
Post by: Luna Star on May 11, 2015, 10:40:46 AM
Hello all.

lately I've got a bit of a problem. Next year I'll be going to university which is great and all but hormone treatment might be getting closer as well. Whilst this both is great I'm anxious of coming out in a new school whilst not looking that convincing. Also knowing there will be many classmates from high school there making it more stressful.

I'm just a bit scared. My parents don't make it better by still arguing about the fact I'm trans or not to a point where I doubt myself a bit...  And thus keep presenting me doom scenarios.

How to deal with this stress. What to honestly expect? Etc etc. To give you backgrounds info, I live in Belgium where transsexuality is accepted but of course it's still a bit awkward.

My main concerns are meeting these class mates again or not being able to get any friends because of how I would look.

maybe i'm lucky, but for the most part people have been pretty accepting of me. not all, but most. and then there are all the new people you'll end up meeting that'll surprised you and be supportive as well. i guess i would focus more on those people. i think when i get super stressed i just end up closing my eyes and charging through it. it's never as bad on the other side as it is in my imagination.

A couple of things to help with the stress would be one get away from the stress when you can. Secondly, engage in activities that relax and relieve stress for you. As far as what to expect is hard to say. You clearly need to time as your parents sort through this. No matter how supporting the country or area we are fro that doesn't change. It seems universal. As far as your classmates and school I would take it one step at a time. Don't force yourself to go to fast to soon. Do what you can at your own speed when the opportunity arises. Good luck and Hugs
