Hi All
I first went to my doc back in Oct last year and to cut long story short saw her again in Feb when she said i was being refered to GIC. I mentioned, when I saw her again in April, that I'd heard nothing. She was to chase but i still haven't heard from clinic.
Can someone please put my mind at rest (or otherwise) and let me know a) how long should I need to wait till I hear from them (I guess WLMH at Hammersmith) and b) that i should get a letter or a phone call.
Thanks
Sarah

Thanks Laura - that makes for fairly depressing reading. I've emailed one of the private outfits and find out more about shared costs.
Thanks again

It seems that the only GIC doctors usually know about is London.
So, when you go to your GP appointment, bring them the details on an alternate GIC you are willing to attend. It doesn't matter which one, they all have considerably shorter waiting times than London. See this for details:

And while we're on the subject, no one needs to be referred to a psychiatrist prior to attending a GIC anymore. So be sure to ask to be referred directly to the GIC you've chosen. :)

Hiya
It sounds like you may have been refered to Charing Cross GIC with waiting times like the ones you describe.
Under NHS guidelines you should be seen within 3 months of being refered but CHX is currently swamped as Dr's in the south seem to only know about CHX, this has resulted in CHX's waiting times being as much as 68 weeks.
Here's a bit of good news, under the new guidelines you have the right to request to be seen by the clinic of your choice. As a result of this I requested to be tranferred to The Laurels in Exeter & my treatment has definately speeded up compared to going nowhere with CHX for almost 3yrs.
Even if you have to increase your travel distance then it would be worth investigating what other clinics are within your reach, then all you have to do is tell your GP you wish to be transfered

Apologies for not getting back sooner, but thanks for the extra information - I'll bring it up with my gp when i see her. Travelling 500 mile round trip as opposed to a year wait is a bit of a no-brainer really :D

I had to contact the clinic not long ago and they told me that they was re-organizing there records.. i wouldnt worry in that sence it took me a while to be contacted i think it was about 6 months the first time i went. And they normally send a letter too you with your appointment on.. i wish you all the best..
