Title: San Diego Comic Con
Post by: TerriT on May 17, 2015, 03:40:57 PM
Is anyone going to SDCC this year? Last year they had a transgender panel and it was pretty awesome. I go to the con by myself and it gets kind of lonely sometimes. Was wondering if there are any other members that are planning on going and maybe we can meet up for a few minutes to break up the day.

I have always wanted to go to comic con at least once in my life, sadly san diego is about as far from me as possible unless I leave the continent, I do have a friend who lives out there who has tried to convince me to fly out to meet, then again she would likely be board not being event 1/10th the geek I am.

but if you ever wanted to visit Boston try and make it line up with PAX east they do transgender related panels every year often with names like "help i think my wizard is transsexual" and "we accept you....Just don't use the Bathroom" and this last year "Trans Against Insanity" I sadly haven't gotten to attend a panel yet, I work a booth at PAX and often loose track of time. going to be better about it next year. Aside from the Fenway Health building in boston PAX east is the most transgender friendly place I have ever been, some of the staff are trans, there was a diversity lounge selling/advertiseing LGBT stuff, near the lounge they even had converted one of the public bathrooms to be gender neutral, the con was told that due to the uneven ratio of male to female attendees they needed to convert some of the female bathrooms over to male, the con staff tried to convince the city to let them make the extras gender neutral but the town only allowed one, which was sad hopefully next year.

It is Nice seeing comic and gaming conventions being forward thinking about Transgender subjects.
