Title: Meatballs

I made some yesterday. Don't have a pic unfortunately and I put them in the freezer for tonight (hopefully) where we make vodka and penne with meatballs. Maybe I'll take a pic of the finished product.
I really didn't have a recipe, just mixed together the meat, bread crumbs, A1 sauce, black pepper, seasoning and a little bit of olive oil. Baked them in the oven for 45 mins at 375ºF.
Anyone has a favorite meatball recipe?

I just tried a new recipe yesterday, though I would not call them "meat"balls, cause there was no meat involved :). It did taste good and it uses turkish peas as the basis - if anyone (vegetarian?) is interested I can post the recipe.
The non-vegetarian which I tend to use involves meat, white bread, eggs, spices and as the special treat - fried minced carrots and onions (or leek - the taste is slightly milder and sweeter with leek).

I use ground pork and ground beef, chopped onion and smashed garlic. Seasonings are black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, soy sauce, parsley, grated parmesan cheese, maybe a few more! I pan fry them on all sides in olive oil, then let them finish cooking in the sauce on a low simmer. Damn, I'm hungry now!

I use strictly ground beef, no pork although I wouldn't mind it. It's just more convenient to do that.
My seasoning is ground up onion, garlic, recao (culantro), thyme, podina which is your typical caribbean seasoning meat mix. (Yes, I know it's not real italian lol).

Well I finally got around to eating it with pasta and vodka sauce. I made the meatballs and my wife made the pasta.

Tasted almost the same as from the pizza parlor. I'm a happy camper. :)

In Greece we like meatballs too. Usually my Mother (cough cough) makes them (I help). We use a mix of pork and veal minced meat, add dried bread, onions, parsley, oregano, dill, olive oil, salt & pepper. They are usually fried in olive oil but you can bake them in the oven too (that way they are healthier).
I don't have a photo right now but it's very similar to this (https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nostimies.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2013%2F09%2Fkeftedes-se-xarti-kouzinas.jpg&hash=5f4207bba28b1b72696d80b82161c2490791a7a8)
In the islands vegetable-balls are also popular, like chickpea-balls or squash-balls.
Too bad one can't upload a smell on the internet...

Thanks Jill. I'm buying chop meat this week so I will give it a try.
