Title: Hello!
Post by: lipsaredelicious on May 27, 2015, 05:14:35 AM
Hi everyone,

I'm new here.

Realised I'm very probably transgender MtF about five weeks ago. Suddenly hit by the realisation as I was coming up to my 45th birthday! Lots of things in my life that I'd done suddenly made sense.

Anyway, still questioning to be sure, just started seeing a therapist so I have someone to talk to. No-one else in real life knows, including family, etc.

Erm, that's me. A tiny bit of me anyway.

Oh, I spent a bit of time on other forums, which is very friendly. Not all that many middle-aged people there in comparison to here, though, it seems - it would be good to discuss things with people who have discovered this about themselves when they already have spouses/children.

My username is from that Cerys Matthews/Tom Jones duet, you know, 'Baby, it's cold outside'.

I'll stop rabbiting on randomly, so hello again.

Thanks for the welcome, all.

No worries about editing my post to remove that site name - if I'd known the rule, I wouldn't have posted it!  :o

lipsaredelicious,

I am 50 and just had a similar realization. Started time with a therapist in January. I just came out as MTF to my wife of many years. We are still together and not sure where this will all land or how far I need to go to maintain and keep dysphoria at bay. Other than my therapist and a safe friend that was a practice run, I am only out to this community here.  It is very friendly and supportive here.

Let me know if I can be of support.

With warm and loving thoughts,

Joanna

Hi Lips!

I am 47 and am exploring things myself. Everyone around me told me I was more female than male, so evidently they saw things I did not. I am in therapy (have been for 2 years for other reasons) now, exploring this side of me. I am married and have a daughter who does not know about this. My 2 sisters do, along with the wife. And though I have been wandering around as a woman for the last 3 weeks, nobody in my neighborhood really has noticed yet. Things will get interesting when they do.

Anyway, welcome.

Hi,

Welcome to Susan's!
It's good that you are already seeing a therapist, as it can help you figure out the way ahead.

See you around,
Cindy

45 years old? That was a Looonnnngggg time ago ^-^ Welcome to the form and let us know if you need anything and I hope you have a good time here. I find it interesting that people figure it out so late in life. In my case the signs where there very early but I did't figure it out until puberty forced the issue.

Thanks, Joanna.

All a bit crazy in the head at the moment but starting to settle down a bit!

In my case, looking back, signs were there since about 11 years old - but never put 2 and 2 together.

Hi Cynthia

It was reading your long thread and story on the other board that made me sign up and say hello. :)

You are brave and have taken the hardest step, getting started.

Welcome!!!  I am 31 and have recently been getting a little down about figuring this out so far along in my life, but everyone here is such an inspiration and I truly believe you have come to the right place!!  It seems like there is no right or wrong time to have your revelation, I think what really matters is that you listen to the call when it comes.  Best of luck on your exploration and I wish you the very best!

Thanks Cynthia.

I'm not so brave though. Haven't spoken a word of this to anyone other than my therapist!

Seeing your story is inspiring but also frightening - good to know the realities sometimes.

Thanks Anastajza. Love that 'z' in your name!

Thank you love!!!  I come from a Polish family so we can spell our names in all kinds of fun and hard-to-pronounce ways!  Anastazja means "reborn" in Polish and I figured that name was just too appropriate to not use.   Anyway, welcome again!!!

Hi  ;D

Exploring your feelings and / or transitioning later in life is better than lying to yourself all your life.  I first told my therapist at 46, started estrogen at 47 ... and think of Bruce Jenner  ;D

Hope to see you around

Lots to explore! Glad it's working out for you :)
