Title: Anybody else's cat do this?

Since I'm on the T my cat has started having a love affair with my scalp. She loves the smell of my hair and every chance she gets she rubs her face against the top of my head like it was catnip. It's not my shampoo -- I've used a lot of different kinds, and that doesn't make any difference. I think the T must have changed the way my hair smells because she wasn't interested before.
Does anyone else have a cat that does this kind of thing?

Dogs and cats do seem to have gender preferences. I've had animals lovin' all over me that ignored me pre-hrt and I've started getting the "dog nose in the crotch" thing. Embarrassing! Went to the animal shelter to meet a dog we wanted to adopt and confused the person there. They have a cat that roams free. I bent down to pet her. The woman said to be careful, she doesn't like men, but she was fine with me.

I can't say since I haven't been able to start T yet, delayed for possibly another year, but I've always wondered if my cat's attitude towards me will change when I do.
I also have to caution any guys who are using Minoxidil or other hair growth products. Cats are sometimes attracted to the scent of it but it's highly toxic to them. A little off topic, I know but there have been a couple threads floating around about hair/beard regrowth and if you're using anything like that it could be why she's so attracted to your scalp.

My cat who used to prefer my dad now likes my dad and I equally, and my dog that preferred my step-dad also now prefers me much more than before, though not quite equally (which makes sense since my step-dad raised him from puppyhood but I met him when he was 5). Animals definitely seen to have gender preferences.
Now that I think about it, my cat likes to put her face in my armpit now. Dunno why, its disgusting in there XD

Yeah my cat loves to lick and groom the hair on my head. I got him around the same time I started T, so I dunno. I actually got a buzz cut partly because it feels so good when he does it close to the scalp!

Thanks for the warning Contravene! I'm not using anything like that, but I might if I start losing my hair. Also, hang in there. You will get T, and it will be awesome.

Funny little beasties aren't they? I guess the world is a very different place when your sense of smell is as good as theirs is.

Yeah, I love when mine does that. She doesn't do it very often though, because I have long hair and it gets wrapped round her tongue.

Not with cats, but my snake is now much more fond of me. He's always been particularly fond of guys and after I got on t he suddenly liked me much more.

My cats like anything 'stinky' or that smells strongly of me or my boyfriend. My socks and boots are their favorite things to sniff and mark and they sleep on my boyfriends feet all the time. I would have thought the dog would be most interested but, no, it's the cats.

My Prissy kitty (female, semi-feral) loves to groom my hair since I started estrogen, but she wouldn't come in the house before that so I don't know if it would be different.

Quote from: Tiffanie on May 31, 2015, 03:34:51 AMthe boob massage, i get that now from my Russian blue. shes over 8 years and never did anything like that. i wake up to it, mostly when she decides to use claws! its one of those things you calmly go to get her off or i end up with holes in me from her sudden dash.. So if i go for implants in the future, should i worry about popping;)

Since I've grown out my beard, my cat really takes to licking it every morning when she wakes up beside my face. Haha. :)

When I was a kid we had one that liked to get in bed with me and use my breasts as pillows.

I wonder if mine will like my beard when/if it turns into something more than extra long peach fuzz. She doesn't seem interested in my sideburns.
