Title: Post top surgery tips
Post by: Snowlady on May 31, 2015, 08:36:51 PM
My partner will have top surgery this July in Ottawa. We are not quite sure what to pack and what to buy for his recovery.

Anyone have any tips for us?

Much appreciated in advance 😀

Hi Snowlady,

Take a look at this thread, it was started by a partner in a similar situation to yours:

Your surgeon's office should be able to give you a list of things they require that you have (medications to pick up, medications to avoid, food, etc.). There are quite a few good threads on the FTM Top Surgery board that should help as well.

I'm guessing that's a link to my post (won't open from the app), but having just been through it, I think the most helpful things were (bland) comfort food, bendy straws and a way for him to sleep upright comfortably. And of course, lots of patience and love. :)

We were fortunate enough to be able to have surgery close to home, so I am not sure about recovery on the road.

As max suggested, check out the surgery forum. I probably read a few years worth of posts in preparation.

Good luck and if something else comes to mind I'll be sure to update here.

You could do a few exercises to work off stress hormones... taking a walk, or a few situps twice a day...

and you could use your imagination to your advantage, imagining a picture of the desired outcome :)
