Title: Do you think online Transgender communities give a good cross section
Post by: stephaniec on June 06, 2015, 06:49:47 PM
Just wondering if the online trans community gives a wide cross section of the real community  or are there limitations to the range of participants due to a variety of reasons. As an example, do you think a good proportion of the girls that work the streets are represent on online communities or the extremely wealthy portion of the community feel the need to participate. Is online comprehensive or narrow in its ability to serve the community.

I would like to say yes, but some people are either to shy or fearful for one reason or another to participate. So certain portions of the community are less likely to take part as a result. So my answer would be no. Hugs

I voted no because there's always going to be that small percentage who have achieved stealth and for a multitude of reasons aren't interested in being activists among us or on the web. We won't hear many of their ongoing stories or see their pretty faces. :(

Agreed? or Disagree?

None of the options seem to match my opinion, which would be stated as "no, because online communities are not for everyone." Most people I meet IRL did not join an online community. I think there is a specific personality who likes online communities. You have to be comfortable with writing and with an online presence, which a lot of people aren't .

I vote yes. There are girls here who "work the streets" but don't mention it due to TOS and their safety.

There are also the rich and famous who pop by but don't actually reveal themselves, obviously. I'm wondering if even Caitlyn Jenner had an account here in stealth. It's possible as she said she found comfort on the Internet.
