Title: Any tips on finding a sponsor or getting Medicare to cover sex reassignment surg
Post by: qwerty108109 on June 11, 2015, 09:46:41 PM
Hi my name is Misty I am currently going to college. I am disabled and I'm currently on disability for me it would be very difficult for me to afford sex reassignment surgery. I am currently living in a storage shed with no running water but I have electricity. And I am very thankful that I have a place to stay after being kicked out of my house and living in my car for seven days.

Does anybody have any suggestions on sponsorship or getting Medicare to cover the surgery.
Also anybody takes Medicare from the surgery would be a big help. :)

Medicare can't outright deny coverage for the surgery. The problem is the second half of your question. Finding a surgeon willing to take only the small amount that medicare will allow for the surgery is a major problem.

During the course of my research, I too looked at Medicare. And yes, they can't deny it.  I even have a supplemental policy that will pay for the expenses that Medicare won't cover.  Got on the phone and started calling surgeons in the US that perform the surgery.  Not a one will accept Medicare - even with supplemental coverage.  So it's off to Thailand I go.

Dr Bowers seems to have been battling with Medicare for ages. I would call her office and ask if they have won the battle.

They will not come to terms with her. Medicare lied plain and simple. I believe it was a mid term election vote pander myself. I am so angry!
