Title: First day on T!

I hadn't expected my insurance to end up covering it all but they end up covering most of it (so I guess the moral of that is don't completely give up). Everything seemed to go well, just a weird sensation in my leg but nothing painful. It was really hard to actually get myself to get in like a dart.
I wonder if anyone else inject in the buttocks? I have only seen people inject intramuscularly in the thigh or subcutanously in the stomach (my doctor didn't even say that was possibility but I'm guessing it's because I have very little fat or muscle in my abdomen). I presume I should also use a different needle and syringe every time?

Congratulations, and YES!... Definitely use a clean needle and syringe for each injection! I generally inject in the thigh, but sometimes the deltoid or glutes. It can be a little hard to reach around to the backside for many people, so the thigh remains a more common site. I used to have a very methodical rotation of sites, but after a few years, ...eh, I just do what seems easiest on that particular day. I have never looked into subQ for myself, nor has my doc mentioned it, but I know there are quite a few people who do that.
Quite frankly, I would use a gel now if I could afford it, as I am very tired of giving myself shots!

Congratulations :)
You might try to relax the leg you inject in..
and another option might be implants... maybe after a dose is established.
hugs

Thigh injections are the most painful for me. I stick with butt injections. I put a hot towel on the skin to loosen it up. No pain or soreness afterwards

I also inject intramuscularly into the thigh.
My doctor mentioned that she has some of her patients do the hip/abdomen injections, but she said I didn't have enough fat to do it. I'm guessing you're right and that's also why they had you inject in the thigh!
Congratulations on starting T!

Congrats. Thigh or But. Insulin is the only hormone that goes into the stomach if my memory serves me correctly. Hugs

Congrats on your first day! I do mine intramuscular in my thigh every two weeks. My best friend does his subcutaneous in his stomach once a week I believe.
My tips are (doesn't mean I'm right or anything it's just what works for me):
-Buy a Sharps container ( I have a one gallon ) once I fill that up with my used needles I send that out and buy a new one.
- Never use the same needle or syringe. Once you use it, toss it.
- Always clean the top of your T bottle with an alcohol wipe before putting the needle in. (that should be common sense but I didn't know that when I started)
- don't inject in the same spot because of scar tissue.
- For me, to find a spot to inject in I just use the cap of the syringe and push around my thigh until I don't feel that weird sensation. When I find a spot that doesn't have that tingle then I know that's where I'll inject.
-Wipe that spot down with an alcohol pad too
-After your injection make sure you rub it for a moment.
