Title: is RLE always required?
Post by: ephone on June 17, 2015, 04:13:09 PM
Hey guys,
Did everyone who's had phalloplasty done had to go through a the Real Life Experience? If so, could you go through this with a regular therapist or did you have to find a specialized one? I thought we only need 2 therapist letters until I did a bit more research.

Thanks  ^-^

Which surgeon are you considering for it? Different surgeons will have different requirements/verbiage for their requirements. I think the general standard for bottom surgery is to have been on hormones for a year (which implies living as male for a year) and the recommendation of 2 mental health professionals. I know at least one surgeon will make some exceptions for people that have socially transitioned and changed their documents over.
