I just saw the episode. Looks like more and more trans material is being written into media lately, which seems like it would be a step like how gay/lesbian use to be unseen on t.v. I wasn't even sure that actor was trans at first until I researched.

I've always liked that show, but I don't get that channel anymore. They've got a nice clip on the Royal Pains YouTube channel, though:
