There is an interesting article in this month's Chatelaine Magazine (for all you Canadian viewers) about a significant other's experience being married to her TS spouse. I searched to see if I could link to it but couldn't - guess we just have to buy it.
This is good that a major magazine is finally taking this out of the closet and going public. A few people at work have come to me saying "have you seen it.....".
It is interesting, but one thing hit me was the couple were both doctors so the big issue of finances didn't seem to come into the article at all. And we all know that a lot of the times the finance issues surrounding TS is such a big part of our lives. It would have been great if the article had gone into all the financial aspects of living TS and the impact of delisting SRS from OHIP has had on us.
If you can get the magazine, give it a read and perhaps a note to the editor on the financial impact would help further the issue of trying to get SRS back on OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan). George Smitherman (Minister for Health for Ontario) who is gay would probably be very interested in hearing from the Canadian viewers as well. It is odd how the surgery is covered in some provinces like Alberta, but not in Ontario.

Gill, at one time the surgery used to be covered in Ontario.I think Mike Harris and the pcs did away with it.

You're right Diane. I have been writing to the Ministry over a number of years trying to get it back on. But they won't make a decision on it until the Human Rights case that is in the process has been decided on. Politics - gotta luv it....

I live in Ontario and am pre surgery. My therapist called human rights , and they basically said since all the others provinces in Canada cover the surgery, i have a human rights case. When you think of all the other surgeries the province covers, it makes no sense this surgery isn't covered.
