Post by: mythy on July 07, 2015, 08:30:56 PM
Hey there. Anyone had any experience with this form of therapy?  I am just starting but I am not sure if it is working. would love to hear stories and input about your experiences.

I second this.  My therapist brought it up to me, but we haven't tried it yet.  It sounds interesting.

6 week update.

At fist I admit I thought EMDR was a croc of ->-bleeped-<- but actually I am feeling a little better and have been addressing some traumatic things that I seriously haven't remembered/thought about in years. It doesn't feel overwhelming though. I am able to think about/remember the events and move on with less anxiety, depression, etc.. I was finally able to admit that I have anger issues stemming from years of invalidation and a few traumas. The best part is I dont have to relive these experiences I just think about them briefly and move on. Anyway, I have 6 more weeks but so far I would recommend anyone struggling with trauma to seek EMDR treatment.  I still feel depression and anxiety but this is helping a lot.

I haven't had it yet. But my therapist is very into to trying it out with me. As well as Sand Play therapy. My best friend who is a therapist does highly recommend both treatments as well as talk therapy. So when I start I can let you know how it is going.

I do EMDR therapy. I have NEVER seen this much of a positive change before. It might be because my therapist is badass, but I swear the EMDR makes me calmer and better able to process. I'm using it for trauma stuff, not gender stuff, but I'm still seeing improvements across the board.

Mine is going to be with trauma as well. I'm a little nervous about it. How many sessions have you had?

I have been doing EMDR therapy for about six months now. My therapist and I work with a few different tools, so it's not 100% EMDR, I'd say closer to 50%.

Okay. It sounds link EMDR is pretty helpful. I was on the fence when she was talking about it. But, honestly, if anything helps me move forward with my journey, does it matter what I use?*

*Provided I am not doing anything dangerous.

I´m doing EMDR currently. Only did one session, but it´s good to know that it has been helpful with other people. Will definitely continue.
