Title: Perspectives on the weather!

I'm finding life quite funny. As many know I live in Adelaide South Australia. We have a so called Mediterranean climate. Basically like California without the people.
This weekend we have been hit by 'the antarctic vortex' at least that is what the newspapers say. We had snow, people drove to the local hills to see it! It looked like frost to me.
We were told to batten down the hatches and stay indoors. The max temp was 11C. The minimum was 3C.
I put a coat on, wore some cute boots and tried to find where the heater switch is in my car.
Didn't find so I must have frozen solid.
Why do news papers print such rubbish?

Cindy:
One time my father told me it snowed on July 4th(summer here in Chicago)
Because of global warming the weather behaves in an erratic way
Just how close are you to to the Antarctic continent to have the vortex in Australia. I know that you are in the midst of your winter down under.
If you have an owners manual, you will probably find your heater button
I have a commandment which I live by.
NEVER throw out a manual unless you are throwing out the reason for the manual being printed. Like throw out a computer, then toss the manual

The media will print anything to sell papers. That said, I've had enough of winter. Roll on summer!

Under influence of typhoon Chan-Hom, we have heavy rain and strong wind for the 2nd consecutive days.

We are better than in southeastern China, and hopefully that typhoon will provide enough water to the Korean peninsula where a severe drought lasted for more than 3 months.
Current locations of the two super typhoons:

Well, on radar and satellite pics, the vortex looked quite impressive. Having spent my Saturday afternoon wandering around Melbourne CBD doing a spot of shopping and catching up with friends, I'm kinda wondering what all the fuss was about. I got 1 brief sprinkle of rain and it really wasn't any colder than I'd expect for Melbourne at this time of year - and with the way the main shopping areas are all linked now, you can walk 3 or 4 blocks and never go outside..
I just went and looked at some pics. Pfft.. That wasn't snow..

13C max out here at the base of the Blue mountains today, snow will fall across them too!
2 thunderstorms last evening, about 2 hours between, with wild winds...
But my favourite sporting area is getting covered in beautiful white snowflakes... just a shame I can't be there :'(
I am not really a summer person, too hot, but Ok up to low thirties!
Autumn, spring and only winter when I am skiing! are my favourite times.
Yes the news is full of pumping up the winter storms... ::)

just look at it as being trained for the end of civilization . They don't want you to panic when the announcement comes of the end of all life. You'll just think it was normal reporting and no one will riot.

Even though we were in the margin of the typhoon, wind was so much strong to cancel a lot of flights yesterday.
