I was having a discussion with my lawyer friend who lives in Phuket and she brought up srs surgeries. She also shockingly said that Iran is one of the countries with the most srs operations. A Muslim country - unbelievable.  So I looked it up on the internet . YES IT'S TRUE.

Don't they give them the choice of prison or SRS because homosexuality is a no, no/ I could be wrong ,but I think there was an article about that a few months ago.

I think that choice was between gallows (or rather cranes, which they are using for public hangings) and SRS.

Yes, they are surprisingly OK with the idea of trans people and SRS (or at least the M2F variety) as long as you are a hetro female afterwards (none of that lesbian carrying on). I don't know though if this means that gay cis men are being forced into this - I suspect so.

There is a lot written about this subject. Many documentary films and news segments about this too. I was curious and have looked into this. I don't speak the language and do not have first hand experience. From that I would have to assume at least the big majority of the people undergoing SRS there would also qualify for it in other countries. There is much information about homosexuality in Iran too but I haven't looked into that.

They are the only large country to be made up mostly of Shiite Muslims. They're also one of the few theocracies in the world today, which makes Iran very unique. Homosexuality is punishable by death there, but at one point their religious leaders decided that it would be okay to be trans. These days the homosexual population in Iran is often coerced into getting SRS.

I recall watching a documentary on YouTube a few years ago about this, and I remember the surgeon emphasizing just how painful it was to patients. There's only one reason for that amount of pain after surgery, and its not getting enough pain medications...

Yes its completely true. I have friends who are Iranian. Since the toppling of the Shah, male homosexuality is totally illegal and punishable by death by hanging under Sharia Law. The only alternative is Sexual Reassignment Surgery to female. Not surprisingly very few accused men refuse the compulsorily performance of SRS. The Sharia courts deen that Male homosexuals may only exist as women as this then  legitimises their sexual interaction with another male.
Lesbianism is frowned opon but not punished as women are trained to be subservient to their men, but are expected to only mix with other women. It also explains why there are very few male homosexuals in Iran since the Shah. Those that are still around are constantly living in fear of exposure as exposure only means two things - forced SRS or Death!

Truly barbaric!

While we're on the topic of Iran, their supreme leader is one of the most ungrateful people that I have ever seen. In spite of all of the prisoners, human rights violations, threats, proxy wars that they fund, the world has allowed them to resume trade provided that their nuclear program becomes more geared towards power and becomes transparent. Now a few days later, he basically calls the US arrogant and says this changes nothing.

Yikes. If it was a choice between SRS and a slow death, I wouldn't go to Iran to have it.
