Title: What is your internal voice?

Especially for those who have transitioned their voice (surgically or otherwise)... what voice do you hear when you think? Is it your old voice or your new voice?
I'm working on my voice and I still find myself dropping it during practice to make comments in my male voice. Like "ugh" or "well, that went well." When I do that I try to change my internal voice, the one I think in, to female. And for a little while, it works.
Have any of you managed to do this full-time? (Or does it just happen?)

My internal voices are my parents. I wish I told my mother, who was crushed she never had a daughter. She never understood the wisdom she gave.
My father died long after my mother, so I was able to appreciate his wisdom.

My voice hasn't changed throughout my transition. It is decidedly male, but occasionally I'll hear just a little bit of female in it.
I love it when that happens!

My internal voice switche to female after a couple of months of being full time. It just sort of happened on its own.
I woke up one day, started thinking and it was like 'oh? you've changed all of a sudden'

My internal voice is and has been 100% female all along since I knew how to talk.
I have had voice surgery and I sound 100% female, 24x7, coughs, sneezes, laughter, grunts, everything.
People postop from voice surgery say that when they start to talk they are startled by their new voice and their brain kind of doesn't recognize it. Not me. This is my voice, and it was pretty natural when I was able to make a sound again.

Just started transitioning.
My internal voice is kind of... genderless?
I mean, my voice was never deep. It started getting deeper in the past few years, but even so it isn't much. It only gets deeper when I get really angry. So whenever I'm not angry, it feels genderless. Not female nor male.
To be honest, having a female internal voice sounds exciting.

While I have utilized speech therapy my internal and external voice remains mostly unchanged; comfortable and familiar.

Can thoughts be voiceless? Mine are such.
For me it is not like one would have it on movies, when a character sits and thinks and then you hear their voice.

My internal voice is something alluring and sultry, something I could use to bend anyone to my will. At least that's what I'm hoping for. I'm going to voice therapy soon and we'll see what happens.

Mine is the same as what I hear when I talk, so female but probably slightly different than I actually sound. Strange to think about though... I'm not even sure when that started happening.. :o

an all-proper male reverend-like voice
a needy little girl voice
a political, non-gendered voice
a brattish, somewhat-chav femme voice

My actual voice is deep, quiet and a touch raspy from years of asthma, allergies and smoking (I dont advise that combo btw.) my internal voice is pretty much the same most of the time since I literally just talk in my own head most of the time... I have whole conversations up there. With myself and with people I know. It's how I work through my problems. Now my public phone voice is a bit higher and I up speak a lot and often get "confused" with a woman. Which just tickles me pink. Anyway if I know you then my voice immediately drops back down to my usual shy self effacing baritone. Gotta work on that.

I can totally see that. Now on a more serious note my voice transitioned internally as I did. I think one person already said it best that it's comfortable and familiar. So comfortable and familiar is how I would describe it. Hugs

Wow! So many different answers! I'm just hoping my real, and then internal, voices can both make the switch... but I have to admit, having "a voice for every occasion" does sound fun. :)
