I hope it's good as most books on Transgender Medicine are totally inacurate....

How about a reality check? or a 'real' book with imput from us!......people who write these books are not 'us' and are not the one's with the experiences. HRT is mythical in it's actual potency and effectiveness and more surveys should be done to portray more acurate data....

No......do I need to?

Yes, because nothing is mythical, it is a word for not knowing. The doctors measure and listen and observe the people that are transitioning. They have a more objective view rather than a perceived personal reality view. A person almost always over estimates themselves. Part of being happy is to have a grander view from the inside rather than the measured facts from the outside. The facts help us avoid delusional decisions.

mythical is what you read in numerous books on the subject of HRT. I still haven't seen anyone male to female who has female fat distribution......the whole truth about the limitations of HRT should be published rather than a few boffins with charts saying 'oh this person has a high level of 'oestrogen....'so it must be working'......oestrogen levels have no bearing on fat distribution or body development....all books on the subject are dilusional and inacurate...

I've put so many of them in the garbage where they belong..

I think your experience is very limited. Because I have seen and experienced changes in fat distribution. Both on myself and my partner as well as others . It very much depends on many factors which are explained in the books. There is also measurements and statistics to back up the writing. Not everyone has such a reaction, your mileage my very especially due to genetics, age and environment. Testimonials are the worst form of information because it is based on perception.

The objective answer is in the half dozen pairs of pants I had to throw out after the first six months.

Yeppers, Lisbeth, you are so right, not to mention the bras and tops that don't fit me as well as they once did.

This is my opinion:  I don't believe that an accurate, useful book on transsexual/transgender medicine exists yet.  It has been no more than ten years since the medical community has begun to recognize gender-based medicine, that men and women don't get ill or healthy exactly alike.  How's that for a revelation?

I attended a lecture by Dr. Pamela Peake, physician and nutritionist, in which she said that many of the things that doctors told women were "all in their heads" turned out to be real maladies.  Aside from the obvious, male and female anatomies differ widely and it is also my belief that being on HRT has made changes that I don't yet know.

I haven't read any medical manuals on transgender/transsexual medicine because I'm not a doctor and wouldn't understand it but I know that my body sure has changed.

Hi I started the estrogen 7 years ago I was 55years old I am now 62 and and have 34 b breast and 28" waist have 35" hips. I am 5' 3" tall and 125lbs about 10 lbs more then before I started estrogen. I consider myself fortunate for granny stock.

As for illness, I have never got anything worst then chest colds and maybe all tole bed ridden probably no more then I can count on my fingers and toes thus far in my life. I only go to a physician every five years just so I can stay on their list.

My perception as you put it is based on fact and experience of a group meeting of transsexuals from the ages of 23 to 53 and seeing a cross section of about 20, none had female fat distribution. Anyone over the age of 13 is going to struggle to get female fat distribution no matter whoever they are. I've met people before who make claims otherwise but when it comes down to it and I meet them they don't have a female shape or fat distribution. No hips...no butt....

I complain about it a lot but in comparison I probably come into the catagory which is doing better than most but we shouldn't delude ourselves of the real facts......HRT is very limited.........try asking an endocrinologist the same question and if he's honest he'll tell you that HRT does very little....in Male to females......

......but with testoterone for Female to Males it's a whole different ball game....

Your experience is with the UK health care system which is different than other treatments and doses around the world.

I keep looking at the she- males in Brazil who do have the right fat distribution and wonder how they did it?
