Title: I'm new in the forum & I would like to ask some questions!
Post by: Danielle89 on August 01, 2015, 06:44:05 PM
This is my first time in here. First, I want to say hi to everyone ^_^

In addition, I would like to ask about testosterone blocker and transition process!

I'm 26 years old. I'm living in Garden Grove city, CA. I love to be a girl when I was a child, but I didn't tell my parents. Last few years, I started to dress as a girl in public when I had chance. However, I think it is not enough for me and I want to be more feminized. I made a call to talk with a therapist last month, and he introduced me to meet a doctor. Unfortunately, I missed the appointment because of working. After that, I'm thinking about the side effects if I take hormone, especially is I cannot have my own child if I use estrogen such as estradiol. Moreover, my parents are Asian and they are traditional type. So I think about using testosterone blocker only to develop my female side. Of course, I have to meet the doctor, but I still want to ask some information first. My questions are:

Does testosterone blocker will make me cannot have child in the future like estrogen?

Can I ask my doctor for the blocker only?

Does anybody have some experience can share to me? I will really appreciate that!!

Thank so much :">

Any time you tamper with the sex hormone mix, you risk shutting down the sperm factory. You only have two options if you wish to have children. Remain a male and do it naturally but you could cross live while doing so or you could preserve samples for children at a latter date. The problem with saving samples is you will need to find a mother to carry your child for you. I faced the same decision many years ago and I knew I wouldn't be able to find a mother so I didn't save samples. I was correct in my decision because a mother never turned up and I am childless today. I do love children but for me it was a decision between surviving or possibly living long enough to have children. I had to give up on the hope of having children.

I spent many years in Anaheim and I transitioned in Southern California. My therapist retired a while ago but hopefully you will be able to find somebody as good in the area

Hi

Welcome to Susan's  :)  Great to have you here - looking forward to seeing you around the forum.

you should talk to your doctor. Unfortunately if your body is deprived of one or other of the sex hormones during your development it may cause you some other unexpected health issues.

Thank Ms. Grace & Ms.Everything,

All your information are so relevant for me! Like you said, I think I have to decide! becoming a girl or living as a male to have children. Btw, I am still so young to think about it :( It just makes me feel sad frequently but I can live with this problem for 20 years. Studying is my option to forget about the transition. Although it is too hard to live in border.

Nice to meet you!!!
Gratefully,

Welcome to Susan's Danielle

I don't think I can add more to that of Dena and Ms Grace, depositing sperm in a sperm bank will cryogenically retain your sperm for future use.

Talk out your options with your DR...

Welcome and look forward to seeing you around the forum's

Yes it can in as short as 6 months. Most have to sperm bank if biological children are wanted.

Can I ask my doctor for the blocker only?

You can, but you need a sex hormone to keep bone density and other issue's from arising. You have to have one or the other.

Hi Danielle, welcome to Susan's. Yes it can shutdown sperm production. Anything that can lower testosterone levels can do that. You can always sperm bank them before if it's something you really want to do yet still want to start moving along with the steps that it takes to do the medical part of your transition. I would consult your doctor in regards to the hormones and blockers and their possible affects on you. It's always possible to make another appointment to a therapist and the also can help you with determining if HRT is right for you or not at this point. I look forward to seeing you around the forums. Good luck and Hugs
