Transgender Activists Call Out Caitlyn Jenner As Out Of Touch After Remark On 'I Am Cait'

So transgender people should uniformly support the same political positions? This seems much ado about nothing to me.

Most of the so-called "activists" don't represent me.

Caitlyn is the most visible representation of the trans experience to date, due to her own circumstances. Nobodies like me don't have to worry about being stalked by paparazzi, etc. I think she'll continue to evolve, and we get to watch.

Tur is just promoting her own brand, as far as I can see.

First of all, "Transgender Activists" =/= Zoey Tur.  Second, if Zoey Tur does not recognize a staged scene when she sees one, then I'm Laverne Cox.

Caitlyn's views are clearly "evolving" in light of her transition.  We don't get to see her real "A-HA!" moments, so they are being recreated for us as if they were caught on camera the first time around.   After all, Caitlyn is the Executive Producer of this show.  She clearly wants us to see a story about how one's views can change, especially those of conservative America, because believe it or not, this is EXACTLY what we really need to happen in order to gain widespread acceptance here.

Zoey, stop pretending this was real.  Cait is actually much less naive and vapid than she wants us to think she is and I'm sure you are smart enough to have figured out that this is all an act.  You make your money in front of a camera as well and know the rules of the game in Hollywood as well as anyone else does.

Maybe Zoey is jealous that Caitlyn is getting more attention these days?  Nahhh...

I was chatting on the phone with my little sister last night and she brought up I am Cait, said they watched it. I think we came to the consensus that it would be difficult to compare Caitlyn too much with your average everyday run of the mill trans woman because like it or not, having that much money and notoriety that getting to resources and making it happen is so much easier for them, so yeah, she and others like her are going to be out of touch. Going and talking with less fortunate ones helps some, but still there will be a lack of true understanding that only real experience of similar things will bring about. Should she continually be criticized for it? No, she's lucky, many of us are not, its life and we can't condemn her for it. Other stories will be told and hopefully people will learn that there is as much variation in the lives of trans people as there are in cis people's lives.

And just to throw this in, zoey needs to reel herself in a bit, she's going to make herself a spectacle.

I was not crazy about some of Caitlyn's comments about govt programs, but I'd much rather have represent me than Zoey Tur.

I quite liked this episode, talk about putting a lot of pressure on herself and was interesting to see how much of the episode was about voice.

I'm also out of touch though, no idea who Zoey Tur is.

Folks do know they follow a script right ? She doing quite well
