With soul source dilater they have markings. My Dr insist that I get to the last dot.... but I'mlike what the hell... I don't know if that's possible .. it always seem to stop at a certain dot. They never told me what dot to dilate at when I was there. I just kinda stopped at whatever felt like it couldn't go in anymore after I push and apply pressure..... can any of you girls get to the last freaking dot?

You definitely shouldn't force yourself! There's a slight risk of damaging the vagina if you push too hard (less so as time and healing go on).
I can get to the second to last dot, which was Brassard's "target."

I hate to say this but you should probably listen to your doctor, and ignore anyone else, because we are all anatomically slightly different and ultimately that will make a difference. Your doctor is the one who knows what should be possible for you.
My surgery is 31 years old. I don't really dilate these days... perhaps once a month or so, but I must have quite a lot of space in the pelvis and so I can get the orange soul source in almost to the point where I lose the end. Now my surgery is a deal more primitive than yours, so if your doctor reckons you should be achieving the last dot then, while I agree you shouldn't over-strain, I do think you should try.
Practically speaking the last dot on the biggest dilator is about 6 inches which is enough to make sure you should never have size issues with the average man.

I did go through a period of time where it was hard to get to the last dot. My surgeon suggested "just try to get it in a wee bit further." So I kind of moved it around and back and forth and tried to find a way that it slipped in a little further. Bit by bit, it started going in further each time. Now I do get it all the way in.

Since your surgeon was trained by Dr Bowers you might have a look here:
marcibowers.com/mtf/your-surgery/post-op-care/
Of course the instructions from your Doc are more important...
you might ask them why to the last point... maybe they have measured that right after surgery and mean this to maintain it ?

Hello Everyone, recently acquired a orange Soul Source dilator to replace the original set provided to me after SRS.
Reason for the upgrade was my ability to insert current dilator all the way leaving me to wonder if I had more depth. Doctor told me to splurge and get a nice one.
The orange Soul Source version has a series of dots. Documentation provided with the dilator does not specify what the dots represent. Looks like the last dot is 6 1/4 inch's. Anyone have the specifications?
At this point once a day, I start with the orange dilator and get it in up to the last dot.
Thank you in advance,
Anne

I don't have a soul source, but my dilater does go to a point where it goes no more, about 3 weeks now it has gone no further, and it isn't quite to the depth I was told I had, I put a fair bit of pressure on and spin it, and stir it a bit. I rang my surgeon and he said it would take months to get the last bit. I'll ask more at my appointment next week.
he said I'm not gonna poke a hole though the end or anything, I was worried about that too lovelessheart

The whole point of dilation is to stretch things -- if you arent stretching them then you arent doing any good.
Like OOAnne - I bought a set of soulsource to replace my old set when the reached 25 years old.
Sure you dont want to slam it in - but gentle pressure and stop at the point where it starts to get noticably more uncomfortable. I mean there isnt anything special about me but I can litterally get it to the point where it is past all the dots and I'm losing the last indent in the handle - so if your surgeon says you should be getting to that last dot...

Is there a reason Soul Source does not make a wider version, maybe call it 'Big Red'?
My surgeon always reminds me its not all about depth, getting a penis past the opening is usually the issue.
Thank you,

I certainly didn't buy all four either - I had hoped that was pretty obvious... (as I've already said I can get the orange one straight in beyond all the notches - so what use would I really have for the others?)
Likewise I'd quite like a larger one.

I find it slightly ironic that we are going on about length and girth in this thread.
Just to chime in for those who might be feeling dot inadequacy. I had my surgery with McGinn about two months or so ago. I can attest that you can stretch things out. I think I was mostly around the 3rd dot right after surgery, and now just slightly beyond the 4th dot. It's taken constant steady pressure (but not overdoing it) during dilation, and doing a pretty okay job of following the surgeon's 5x a day routine. Yes, just sucks your days up. I'm just on the 2nd dilator, so who knows how things will go with the bigger ones.

Hello, I was instructed to start using the largest dilator in the set within 7 days of 'the unpacking'. I was able to meet the schedule but dropped down a size after some bleeding. I stayed with that size for 2 weeks and then made another attempt at the largest dilator. This time around I experienced no problems. Stuck with a 3 time a day scheduled even though my doctor instructed 4 times a day. I dropped down to twice a day around 5 weeks.
I can now get away with once a day using the recently acquired Soul Source Orange dilator. I pretty much stop at the top dot and then move on with my day or evening. I am 80 days postoperative.
Since I plan to try out the new body soon, it might make good sense to dilate twice a day. I'll start today!
Thank you,
Anne

lovelessheart, I don't think anyone can say if you should do more than what you're, although I imagine it can't hurt if you do it responsibly. I feel like surgeons know exactly what they did in there, so they should be the ones we follow. Clearly many surgeons have great outcomes and ask for 3 dilations/day. I think I mostly followed the McGinn regime so that I would know that I've done all I can on my end for a successful outcome.

I was measured at between 6 and 7 inches depth at unpacking by my nurse. Surgery was with Dr. Chettawut.
I still have exactly that same amount of depth 3 weeks later. Dr. Chettawut has his own dilator set, that corresponds to the first 4 dilators in the Sole Source set. I am currently on #2 and will move to #3 next week then #4 on week 9. I plan to buy the two largest Sole Source dilators and add them each after 4-6 additional weeks eventually reaching "Mr. Orange" by December this year. I plan to always start with #1 until I am certain I won't be losing depth.

Dr McGinn did my surgery in June and I was measured as having a 5" depth on my first visit. On the violet #1 dilator, I was able to get to the third dot. (The one in the middle) On the #2 blue one, I can't get in as far, only to the second dot but I was told as I stretch it wider, I'll temporarily lose in depth. Guess that makes sense. The #3 green one I can just make it to the first dot.
I always use the #1 dilator to keep my depth and the others to widen the enterance.
Dr. McGinn's schedule in 5x a day for the first 9 weeks, 3x a day up to 24 weeks, then 1x a day until 52 weeks then 2x a week after that.
The 5x a day was murder but I figure the doctor knows best. :-)
Love,
Clare

I had my GRS with Dr. Bowers about a week ago, and I can get in just to the level of the last dot. At this point, so long as I can keep doing that, it's all good. Dr. Bowers pointed out when I asked her that most cisgender women only have 5 or 5-1/2 inches of vaginal depth, so deeper doesn't necessarily matter. (Granted, cisgender vaginal tissue tends to be stretchier than ours, so a bit of extra depth is probably good for comfort.)

I use the Amielle Comfort dilator set and I have only ever used the 25mm, 30mm and 35mm dilators. The ones I have used are approx. 4.5 inches in length, 5.5 inches and 6.5 inches respectively.
When i started dilating I could get the 25mm / 4.5" dilator all the way in, but the next size up stopped with about an inch sticking out. Now, 6 weeks later that dilator (30mm / 5.5") goes all the way in and the 6.5" has about an inch sticking out but it is obvious to me that it is going further in as well.
I think it is a combination of swelling decreasing and stretching.

For what it's worth, Dr. Bowers told me after my GRS (5 weeks ago) that the average cis woman's vagina is only 5 to 5-1/2 inches deep anyway. She said we need a bit more depth because our vaginal tissue is less stretchy than that of a cis woman, but there's no reason to fret not being able to bury a whole arm in there or whatever. ;-)

As a followup to my earlier post, let me add that I did buy the green and orange dilators from the Sole Source set to add to the 4 dilators from Dr. Chet.
At the current time, right now today, I've been using the orange for almost 3 weeks. The green goes in easily past the last dot. The orange stops between the last and next to the last dot but that's slowly increasing. When I started three weeks ago with the orange, it would stop with 3 dots still exposed.
My current dilation schedule is twice a day, for an hour or more (usually more). I use Dr. Chet's #1 for 10 minutes, #2 for 10 minutes, #3 for 10 minutes. I skip #4 entirely and go straight to Mr. Green in the Sole Source set for 10 more minutes. Then I go to Mr. Orange for 20 minutes or more (depending on what I'm watching on my laptop).
I've frequently gone 50 minutes on the orange dilator, after the 40 minutes on the other 4, just watching TV or a movie. That's in my evening session. Morning sessions are almost always just an hour.
I am pleased with my progress and see zero loss of depth from immediately after surgery. The #1 from Dr. Chet's set still goes in over 6.5 inches.
