But he never had sex-reassignment surgery, meaning that his transgender status would quickly become obvious to a nursing-home aide charged with bathing or dressing him. Like many transgender seniors, he worries what this will mean for him once he enters a nursing home or assisted-living facility"

Before having to check in into a nursing home, find out if they are TG friendly. Otherwise, you can find yourself in a lot of trouble. Check with HRC for any homes in the area. Remember your health may be bad and you could be stuck in a nursing home that is bad for you the rest of your life.

Also the HRC is looking into this situation for elderly members

Our local senior center aired the film "Gen Silent" about the plight of LGBT seniors. One of the people profiled in the film was a transgender woman whose family rejected her. There's actually a task force in our county that is trying to assess the level of care given to LGBT patients in local nursing care facilities.
