A Florida state representative has committed to supporting a ban on anti-LGBT workplace discrimination – despite being a Republican.

Alongside a Democratic opponent, Republican lawmaker Holly Raschein this week proposed the Florida Competitive Workforce Act – a bill to eliminate employment discrimination, based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

Are Republicans starting to come around to realizing ALL discrimination is WRONG?  Hope so. Now, if only the Presidential Candidates would get on board.

This is good, but I think that people misunderstand the Republican party. It is not one homogenous entity.

There are the ultra religious types who believe that "teh gay is baaaad" no matter what. They lump us all together, although I have zero in common with a gay man. (Huckabee).

Then there are those who will push for anti discrimination laws. Like this woman. Good for her.

There are others who hide behind "states' rights." Rand Paul? Last I checked, I was trans in every state I went to. I don't know how states rights can factor into this.

Then there are others who say, "We don't care but we don't want a law." Almost the same as #3 except that they hide behind big Government.

FULL DISCLAIMER: I am a registered Republican and have voted Republican in most elections (up here you basically have no choice in local elections). I do think that the party will come around but it with take anger and vitriol. What it needs to do ultimately is discard the religious nuts, and embrace the "big tent" ideology. They have the perfect opportunity with Caitlyn Jenner. Rick Santorum, as bad as he is, ALMOST showed support for her...
