Hello everyone. From what I can gather, my life's experiences are very similar to the rest of you who waited such a long time to sort out certain parts of themselves. My memories of feminine inclinations go back as far as I can remember, to about four years old. After thirty nine years of working so hard to "pass" as a manly man , I'm starting to feel panic about growing old and dying without ever being able to cultivate deeper friendships. Soon I will hopefully be selling a house. This may be one of those rare moments when I have enough money to step back and think about things. To buy more tools and equipment (and consequently stay in the building trades), or maybe think about how to transition. A different line of work would be a welcome change, but I haven't been able to figure out what that may be. Oh well, I'm babbling. I look forward to seeing all of you around the forums.

Welcome to Susan's Place. There is nothing wrong with staying in the building trade if it's what you really love. On the other hand there is noting wrong with a different trade. For me it was computer programming and as soon as I discovered it in college, I proved to be a natural at it and have done it all these years.

Another welcome,
It is a caring community as you may have noticed. There are many here who waited pretty late till starting, re-starting or just plain coming to our realizations.
I wish you luck, courage and a smooth journey with your choices.
With warmth,
Joanna

Welcome from another late Starter...don't worry too much about being too late to the party...that noise you hear as you chest moves in and out, is you breathing and as long as you are breathing then there are always possibilities... :-)

A big warm welcome to Susan's Sweetbriar
Its never to late to start, it feels wonderful and a great release of your burdens... Technically I am also a late starter... albeit a gradual process, but planned! My first realisations that I can remember were from around 4, confirmed by visual realisation of anatomical differences at 5, followed by years of pain and anguish etc...
And no you are not babbling, everyone's personal experience is real and valuable.
I really look forward to seeing you about the forum's

Hello and welcome :)
Well some people use their experience and advise people... for example concerning interiors...
or you might try to further a hobby and make it a profession... maybe with some courses...

;D Hi SweetBriar!
I am new here too. Looking forward to getting to know you. I know that there are a lot of people here that seem to have started later in life. Maybe there are already threads about career changes, or tweaks. Maybe you could translate your skills in the building trades into something else. Like cabinet making, or custom kitchen installs for a company like IKEA. Or as others have said maybe you have a hobby that can translate into a business. The world is your oyster.

Thanks again everyone for the warm welcome. The work thing is of course only one element of many. I'm hoping that learning to feel comfortable in my own mind and skin will open as many doors as it closes.....we'll see.

I'd say take your time...
and maybe have a notepad ready and write down some thoughts... thats what many writers do... sometimes glimpses or an idea appears which is worth being followed...
