I used to be here a long time ago and received a lot of help and I am hoping that I can once again ask upon you.
A month or two ago I went for my blood tests that they need to start me on hormones as long as their is no major issues, I got the results back a month ago and the ALT levels are high to say the least it says
serum ALT level 102 iu/L and range as 0.00 - 55.00iu/L
My cholesterol levels are a little high as well.
Now I've looked online and seems as if it is a fatty liver (I hope) would this be a problem on starting hormones?
At the time of the blood test for a weeks/months before I was eating really badly having pizza and sausage sandwiches everyday and drinking 2 litres of coke everyday and 3 spoons in a cup of tea/coffee.
After the blood test I cut out the pizzas and sandwiches, I've moved onto sweeteners instead of sugar and I no longer drink coke at all and just flavoured water, I don't think this was anything to do with the blood test as I hadnt had the results at the time.
I have to go back in about 2 months for a follow up blood test.
My question is would they use my elevated ALT levels as a reason to not start me on hormones? its just that this will be my 5th meeting with them now and I am eager to progress as I just feel that I have been stuck in the same place forever and they seem to keep putting a wall up against me, each time coming out with something else that stops me, admitiddly something that I could have/should have foreseen.

This is going to be one for your doctor and your next blood test. High levels of hormones are hard on the liver so the doctor will need to be very careful about treating you. A low dose might be safe but that will be up to the doctor. My brother had a condition where he had partial liver failure and the doctor restricted his diet and placed weight restrictions on him. His death was from something unrelated but had he lived, liver failure might have been in his future. Make sure you fully understand what the doctor tells you. If the second test come back clean, it might have been your diet. If not hormones might have a higher risk level for you and you will want to weigh it carefully.

There are sweeteners said not to be healthy... artificial ones...
you might have a look at stevia (don't know if its good for the liver... have a look into it ) and honey for example.
Well you might try a more healthy diet... fresh fruit and vegetables, possibly organic... and regular exercises, a few minutes a day... a walk, a ride with the bike...
There are ways of application less straining on the liver.
Patches, gels, implants and injections... you might argue that way...

No one can tell you the answer to that as different doctors will have different levels of risk that they judge acceptable.
So while its unlikely to be an absolute showstopper - it is a contra-indication. You will probably be advised to be cautious, and they may want to see further tests before you can proceed. HRT does place a strain on the liver - and liver failure can be fatal so... don't panic - but certainly everything you can do to improve your health will pay off. There are other potential causes I can think of though, so don't be surprised if more tests are requested to pinpoint the issue.

just as an update I have been given consent to start hormones but I have got to go back to see the endocrinologist just to find out what is the cause with my liver, but they have said there is no problem with me starting them afterwards.
