I live in Bloomingdale, Illinois. I'm looking for support groups somewhere near me. Preferably within half an hour of my town.
Bloomingdale is somewhat near Wheaton.

There are also 2 groups in the Chicago area
1. Chicago Gender Society(which is on the internet as well)
2. Chicago Tri-ess (internet as well) which meets on the 3rd Sat at an Oakbrook Hotel
They are both nice clubs to be in.
Janet
From western Chicago suburb

The best thing to do is to google it. I live in a fairly small town and thought that there weren't any other transgenders in the area. When I finally googled it, I found a group right in town.
Generally speaking, there isn't a lot out there publical. Even active groups try to keep things private and respect people's needs for it. Looking on line won't hurt and you may be surprised. I found a Dr. that way who has been working with transgenders and codes hormones so that they will be covered by insurance.
Don't give up on finding a group. You may be pleasantly surprised.
