Title: Testosterone, Weight, Singing
Post by: jayyylmao on August 21, 2015, 04:42:34 AM
Hey everyone! So as you can see from my signature ticker, my T appointment is coming up soon. I'm a chubby guy (I'm under 200 pounds, but still a lot heavier than I should be), and I've heard from a lot of friends on T that you get really hungry, as well as the fat redistribution. As I'm already pretty chubby around my middle (I'm joining a gym, so I am gonna work it off soon), I'm worried about how that'll affect me. Do any chubby people have experience with T?
Also, I'm a singer, so does anyone else have experience with going on T and singing, especially to do with voice drops.

I'm a heavier guy for my height at the moment, so I will chime in.

T will generally increase your appetite at some point, which will make you hungrier and want to eat more. BUT, it should also increase your energy which will make you better able to work out.

Fat redistribution seems to be hit or miss, or at least is one of the more long term effects of T. Fat will resettle from your hips/waist/thighs to your stomach. So it'll be important for you to keep your food and exercise in check if you don't want to be thicker in the middle.

I would say if you're going into the process wanting to lose weight, it will be important to not only exercise but also watch what you're eating. There are sites that can help you figure out how many calories you shouldn't be exceeding for your weight goals.

Can't give any advice on singing.

If you're concerned with your singing voice, I would talk to your doctor about starting off at a lower dose so the voice drop is more gradual. I know this is something I've heard several ftm singers talk about. I personally am not much of a singer, but one thing I have noticed is that my range is a lot smaller since I started T, and my voice drop happened really fast (within the first couple months). If you have the patience, I think it might help.
