Title: Post-Op for Dummies: A Guide to Being Post Srs
Post by: lovelessheart on August 30, 2015, 01:56:13 PM
Calling all post op women. Please leave a helpful tip below. Something that has help your post op experience go smoother. You can also leave something that is normal below. Such as tingles in the vagina because of reconnecting nerves. ...I'll go first.

Tip: before dilating put a clean finger in you. Then 2 .  Let it stay in you for 5 mins. Then you can dilate. This helps it ease in there better. Also helps with some of the pain. It helped for me.

I got one of those yeast infection kits from the supermarket (do NOT use the actual yeast infection cream that comes with it!!) because it came with vaginal applicators. I took the applicator and used it to insert lube deep into my vagina before dilation, and it made a huge difference; a lot of lube gets scraped off the dilators, so this means I can both use less and still get even better lubrication than I was before.

This thread is a great idea!!

Ok - Most people worry when dilating that they might "tear" something, when in reality if your surgeon was any good its actually pretty unlikely. People I think get confused because of the fact that you arent allowed to have sex for three months and they imagine this is because of some strange "risk of tears". In reality its mainly because although the skin heals the tissue remains porous for quite a long time, and while it does there is a HUGELY increased infection risk. So frgility is not the main concern.

Granted you probably don't want someone dilating with a jack hammer, but if you use plenty of lube and normal amounts of pressure its NOT going to tear. In actual fact by observation about 80% of people who have post-op complications do so because they haven't dilated hard or deep enough. The remaining 20% are just unlucky but literally 0% have problems because they dilate too hard!

So it is important when you are shown and told how to dilate by your surgeon, to follow the advice properly and not be scared or too frightened to apply a little force and maintain the depth that he or she has shown you.

If you are having trouble peeing without spraying, close your legs more and lean forward a bit (experiment with angles)

the long panty liners are great when you don't need the thick pads any more.

Buy a donut cushion.

Don't freak out about how it looks, it constantly changes as it heals and the surgeon had the end game in mind.

Buy some bigger size panties, don't need tight ones anymore.

Good thread, will think of some more.

This is a great tip but never ever do this with someone you dont know - because if you rely on a condom to protect you from HIV the coconut oil WILL cause it to fail - any latex based condom will burst in coconut oil exposing you to infection risk - so this tip is only good when not using condoms.

There are latex free condoms. Just look up which ones are good.

Concerning positions, put a pillow under the buttocks to tilt the pelvis a bit.

You girls are my role models so thank you for that.
