Title: Many many questions
Post by: Payson on August 30, 2015, 11:17:41 PM
Wow I haven't been on one of thse sites in over ten years.  You see, I transitioned to where only a few people knew and just, started living my life as me.  Its  odd, that I never really ID'd as Trans-anything but  just a woman but thats just me and to  each their own.  I remember when I was around 20  researching this  every single day. Now, I am so far behind.   Apparently  there is  insurance to help in some cases.  How awesome is that!?

If I had the choice, and speaking financially I would go to Supporn.  I remember his work and finding his website and y jaw dropped.  The  US  surgeons and others in Canada  didn't even come close to that.  One of the things I  don't get is   -- why don't the US and other NA  surgeons try to mimic  Supporns method ?

Anyways  If the money works out, I am going to go to Supporn.   If not, then I  am leaning towards Bowers.   I can't bring myself to go to McGinn  because I have heard one too many horror stories there.    I have heard very very few from Supporn.  I am nervous  about the  post op as I am not a fan of  pain.  I got my  BA  done a few years ago and that wasn't that bad actually.

So questions:  Whats the total - or most recent up to date cost people have for Supporn ?
Also --  what if I combine a BA  too.   I want to get them redone anyways - so I might as well right!?
Does anyone know what the wait time is like  for  Supporn to plan this with work and such.
Does anyone have any links to some recent  pictures of Supporn's work.  The one thing that bothers me is that most of the pictures on his website are still the same from years ago.
Does anyone know  of someone else is that area that is better than  Supporn in your opinion ?

Just trying to keep my options open.  I only get one shot at this - ya know  haha

Hi Payson, welcome to Susan's. I don't have an answer to your questions, but I'm sure others will. I look forward to seeing you around the forums. Good luck and Hugs

Hi Payson  :)

Firstly welcome to Susan's. Hope you get loads of answers and can get the surgeon you want.

I can't answer your Dr Suporn questions because I've not been to him. I'm pretty sure someone will have them answers for you.

Is it possible to get better than Dr Suporn? I went to Dr Chettawut and will say from my experience he is as good as anyone but rather than say he is the best I'll leave it as he did a job as good as I believe was possible given what he had to work with. So you can compare costings here's what I paid in March and as far as I'm aware these are still current prices. SRS will be 330,000 Thai Baht, Dr Chett also charges 32,000 Baht for the skin graft if needed so if you budget 9-10,000 $US plus 800-10000 for the extra graft you'll be right depending on the exchange rate. Flights depend where you are and what airline you choose but $US1000-1500 for economy return would be about right. If you can afford to fly Business Class on your return flight that would be good for comfort. Hotel is dependent on which one you choose so the Bangkok Rama is 1100 baht a night for a cottage. Dusit Princess ix 1700 Baht an night and the Vertical Suites is 1800 Baht per night. Food depends on how much you eat but is cheap compared to most places.

Hope that helps

Hugs

Sorcha  ;D
