Title: Got a question for yall.
Post by: kariann330 on September 01, 2015, 10:56:37 PM
So my husband to be (God I love saying that!!) asked me a question that I really don't know the answer to so I figured maybe some of yall might.

He asked, how long after my surgery would my body develop the bacterias that naturally occurring in the vagina giving it it's unique smell and taste?

We both understand that obviously individual biology comes into play with this and it could happen sooner or later for one person compared to the next.

Thanks yall.

Ahh....I know I've read about that somewhere before....and I want to say that it takes a few months...? But I'm not 100% certain.

With HRT, I'd noticed a very similar smell after a couple months. But personally, I don't know after SRS. Yet.

Ya gotta have that bacteria present to do that.

Heres an odd idea..  In a medical journal years ago I read they did fecal transplants for people who lost the bacteria in their bowls due to chemo or a really strong antibiotic..

Could it be that easy to speed up the production of bacteria in the vagina by swapping toys with another fem that has a clean bill of health..

If ya can find another immunologist who can answer that, you could possibly speed things up?  I think I'd prefer doing that over swapping fecal matter;)

I'm not sure , but I think the smell has to do with the natural secretions that lubricate the vaginal walls  which is not  there for a MTF. I could be wrong though just guessing.

As far as I know over time like a few months the vaginal flora will be almost identical. You aren't "born" with the bacteria. You get it from the environment and the acidic conditions brought about by hormonal changes (HRT) facilitate that.

You will smell like a cis woman I heard.

There are also probiotic washes you can get:

After being on HRT a while and pre-op. Since I stay tucked nearly all the time, both my wife and notice a natural vagina smell down there. The same secretions that exist in a cis vagina seem to come from the area between the area of the skin of the ball sack and the penis itself where it fold under. At least that's how it seems to be.

There was a study done on this quite recently, and sadly they concluded that for the majority of long term postops the answer is that the flora never will be identical... close yes - identical no. I cant recall the exact figure but I think there was something like 100 participants, all ultra longterm post op and only about 10 had a certain very typical strain of an acidophilic baccilus which was found in almost all of the cis females.

Hi,

Depending on the person,

If your female or like myself,

your body does not produce the same detail  smell or body  liquid as we do because you are missing out on some body organs and hormones that we have ,

glands ,   after birth . that come into effect after puberty or close to .when your talking about the sexual glands

First we smell because we sweat,  the bacteria on our skin that breaks down our sweat  causes body odor.
the makeup of male and female sweat differs in the concentration of sulphur and the more  sulphur we have in our sweat the stronger our body oder can be .

Okay theres a lot more detail if you wont to dig deeper I,v just highlighted a little bit for you to go on with .

The Bartholins gland , the gland or greater vestibular are located in the superficial perineal pouch in females and secrete relatively minute amounts of fluid when a woman is sexually

Oh dear,,,dare  I say it,   to find out you have to smell ......yes okay .....different people .
to find out the or if theres a difference ,  sorry not my Dept .

...noeleena...

Well practice tells different...
imo its like a lawn that can be sown...
many people do not know this and even use douches for example with the wrong ph value which can disturb production of a flora...
some docs for example only recommend certain douches the first few months...

It definitely depends on the person and the situation. For me, it was a few months, but I also didn't just "develop" it - I did make a deliberate choice to, well, I think the word used was "transplant." It was harder to avoid any interaction between my wife and me anyway, and eventually I didn't bother. Basically, once I was sure that infection was no longer a risk (fully healed and several months post-op when Brassard said 2 months was the cutoff for being extra careful about bacteria), we stopped using condoms on toys and being careful not to touch me after her. It didn't take much longer for the characteristic smell and taste to appear.

I do self-lubricate, though I have no idea if that helps or not.

Jenny, I'd be curious to see that study; the one I see repeated most often had similar results but used only 50 women and acknowledged that 19 of them reported douching (which can, of course, throw thing significantly out of whack even for cis women). All I know is, my GP did test me for this at my last physical because I was curious, and said the results were "normal."

OMG I noticed that the other day! I had just finished working out and I was about to shower when I stopped and was like "Wow, what smells so... good? ;D" It took me a few minutes but then I figured out it was me but it was exactly as you describe. My area is pretty big though, pretty much all of where the 2 come together is changing to a smooth texture with a pinkish color and producing the smell. I love it, can't wait for the hardware to go with it lol
