Title: Too big to pass?
Post by: Sonia Stevens on September 29, 2015, 09:16:42 PM
Hi girls! Ok, I have an attractive face that isn't too butch, so if I grew my hair out and put on a little makeup I'd look pretty. I think my face could pass as female. Now the bad news: I'm 6 feet 3 inches tall, so it would be awful hard to "pass". To add to my woes I need size 13 1/2 shoes! I have found some girly shoes in that size, which is probably 15 womens. No sexy strappy sandals in that size, I've checked. I'm going to get a sewing machine and some patterns and make my own clothes. Great. So now I'll be the Amazon Lady. What can I do? Can I pass as female, even as a sasquach? Not many men will be taller than me. Sigh! I love love love the old 1950s pinup pictures of girls like Betty Page, but I don't know if I can pull it off. Can I rock a pencil skirt? Need advice. I've never done this before because of my height. I have sexy legs and I would love to show them off!

Remember CIS-Women come in all sizes and shapes. A few months ago I met a cis-woman that was 6'9". I'm 6'7" a woman's size 16 in clothes and a size 13W in women's shoes. Thin strappy shoes are hard to find that fit, but I've managed to find some with small to medium straps that work well. My height has never outed me. I've been referred to as a Amazon Woman before, but that's all. For clothes and shoes for us tall girls check out Long Tall Sally and also Alloy Apparel.

Welcome to Susan's Place, What to do? Well you could stand along side me and I would only be an inch shorter than you. When I first started cross living, I was wearing 3 inch heals and didn't have any problems in public. If you are proud of your hight, nobody will question you. It can work for you and if you need help, there is plenty of help here.

Hi Sonia welcome to Susan's.
I'm in the same boat as you 6'3 and bigger feet than most.
I thought there was little hope of passing until I spent a day at the local plaza (mall for Americans) and just watched to see how many tall women there are and I was really surprised. It may be that there are just lots of tall women where in Queensland but I quickly lost count of how many 6'+ women I saw... Either that or there is a Hugh underground trans population that I don't know about >.>

What also helped was finding a shoe store (http://solehavenshoes.com.au) nearby that stocked size 11-15 women's shoes. And several boutique stores selling big and tall women's clothing.

As Mariah said we come in all shapes and sizes.
And like Dena said confidence will help you pass too, walk like you own it, stand tall and proud and most people won't give you a second glance.

Hugs,
Sarah

Warm welcome to Susan's Sonia

Firstly big hugs....

But seriously we are really our own worst enemy, because we are so critical of our looks, stance, hair, bellies etc... but guess what, that's what makes us human, all of us.

So please don't be down on yourself, we all, even CIS girls are overly conscious of certain aspects and in reality we can spend a fortune to change ourselves, or accept and be very happy, and at the end of the day its self confidence and a happy face that wins through every time.... so smile and be confident and I look forward to seeing you around the forum's. Oh and show off those lovely legs  ;D

Thaks to all of you! You're all so sweet. I've wanted to let the real me out for so long, but I tough I was too big. Maybe there is hope. I need to see how girly I can get without hrt. Then I'll take that irreversible step and grow me some boobies! Thank you all for the encouragement. I need to get a sewing machine and some patterns and cotton cloth and get started exploring. I have a butch occupation, so this will take time. Thanks ladies!

I thought that being dissatisfied with your body was a normal girl thing. I have never met a gg yet who was totally happy with her looks. I want to ask, since I'm exploring this, what does it feel like the first time a straight man checks you out and looks at your legs? I've only explored the real me at home, never gone outside with it. Is being checked out the first time something I'll never forget? Is it really sexy? I want a man to look at me while I'm in a 1950s type outfit.

Welcome to Susan's! :)
Did you know many of the female models are tall? Being tall have a few advantages. The catwalk models are often tall and tall people reach thing easier. Every women are difference and comes in difference shapes and sizes. It would be boring if everybody were clones. Being tall isn't negative. :)

Hi Sonia and welcome to Susan's. There are many tall women here in New York. Sounds like yo have a good idea of how to dress. Making your own clothing is a plus. Sebby's right about tall models because the fashion industry like them tall.

Welcome to Susan's.

I am 6'3" and take a 11.5W men's or 13 woman's shoe size.

Try going out in a safe place like group or a LGBTI safe neighborhood, if you can.

I'm new here but have been in transition for 3 1/2 years now. My height was a huge concern for me in the beginning. It wasn't until I aquired a hoard of shoes that fit (14 womens) as well as clothing (I'm 6- 2 1/2") that I even considered transition. Nowadays people just see me as a tall female, the key word being female!
