So I've started HRT and I've gotten to the point where I'm showing through most of my shirts.  And it's getting colder out on top of that and I was talking to a FtM friend of mine who said it might be time to look into getting some.  The thing is I really don't even know what I should be looking for with this.  Personally I feel like it's still too early or I don't have enough to work with, but I can't deny I've been showing through shirts.

Any help?

It's easiest to start with sports bras. I've been wearing them for about a year.

Right that's what I figured.  I just really don't know anything else about them ha

I've had no end of difficulty with this. I'm sure the best option is to go to a decent shop and get fitted.

Since there's no way I'm doing that I ended up buying various different sizes online until I found something I liked. Its kind of expensive that way.

I prefer a sports bra these days. I find them comfortable and the exact size doesn't matter too much.

I have used this method of determining what size bra to buy.  Measure yourself around your chest where the band will go, this is just below your breasts but not under your chest bone.  then measure around your nipples.  What you measured around your chest is your aprox. band size ( bra's come in 2" sizes, for example if you measure 41, try a 42 band size, if this size rides down try the 40) and if your nipples size is 1" larger than your band size you are a size A cup,  2" would make you a B cup and so on.  I got this info off of a site when i ordered one online.  It seems to work best for me.

Getting fitted for a bra is your best bet.  I spent nearly 2 hours at Victoria's Secret getting fitted and trying on over a dozen different bra styles.  It's not just about size to get a good fitting bra, it's also about how the bra is designed.  I've discovered that my favorite is a front-close racerback so the straps don't fall down my shoulders, at all, ever, lol.

And if you're looking to give your bustline a boost for when you do go out en femme, then a good pushup will give you shape and structure, even if you can't fill it up completely.

There are a lot of online resources to teach you how to self measure your bra.  I measured myself to be a B but ended up being a C size so I only had to pitch one bra.  When your nipples begin to get their soreness, they are a good idea to have too. 

There are a lot of measurement schemes around, but unfortunately there's no universal way to fit a bra, I'm afraid. Many manufacturers deliberately screw their sizing around from their competitors so customers will keep buying their brand. Your best bet it just to try a couple on. A quality store will have a fitting expert who might be able to help. If you shop online, be prepared for some trial and error, so buy cheap.
