"Following complaints from the public, Bob Ecklund, President and CEO of the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap county, issued a statement Oct. 5 saying the organization is modifying the policy for transgender individuals in locker rooms and restrooms in "family facilities." Ecklund said the change was to ensure youth are not exposed to the opposite sex in their locker room ."

They don't say what they mean by "in transition". I fear they mean "pre-op" which would be an unbelievably offensive use of that term.

Yet another case of people freaking out about what MIGHT go wrong, what a policy MIGHT cause to happen, responding to a bunch of people on social media freaking out about the possible connotations of something, when in reality absolutely nothing has happened. (Or will happen.)
Sigh... why are people so afraid of us?

They're not afraid of us. They're afraid of Things Changing to the point that they no longer feel welcome or comfortable in the only culture in which they've lived. The possibility that there would no longer be men's rooms or ladies' rooms is very uncomfortable to a lot of people, and I actually can understand that.

Quote from: suzifrommd on October 08, 2015, 03:51:29 PMNot to derail the topic or anything but, I believe that isn't the case. After all, many of these bills and complaints along with proposed "solutions" is to build a separate bathroom or even do away with men/women bathrooms and go neutral. I DO believe it's not simply fear but ignorance and bigotry.
