Right,on Wednesday I'm going to the GP for my usual Diabetic check up and I'm gonna use the chance to Break the news to him that I'm trans or at least in my opinion i am. So I'm posting it on here so that i am less likely to woos out in front of you guys. This is the one person I'm not looking forward to telling.

Take some confidence pills first, lol. And good luck. If you've been telling others, you should know that it gets easier every time you share it. At least it does for me.

Go for it..Dr's are in most countries legally bound to keep your confidence. Don't be at all surprised if you find your Dr a bit "clueless" mine had no idea at all...I have spent the last few months educating him and providing referral points for future patients so they don't end up in the limbo I was for so long.
You will feel so much better and you too Peep, It feels like a weight has been lifted especially if you have told no one else but to be sitting in front of a Dr and starting the journey is a difficult and daunting task...until its done.
Relax if you can and be prepared to explain a bit to the Dr so you can get the help you need.
Good luck and I am sure it will go well.

Goodluck! I know this is a difficult first step but the doctor is there to help you.
Hopefully you will also find out your doctor is already well versed with the trans medical process and can guide you through it. Maybe take some info with you though incase he/she is new to this as well.
Let us all know how it goes!

I know my heart was racing like I was running a marathon when I finally went through the steps to talk to those I needed to to get HRT. When I was in the office with the endocrinologist for the first time, even with the support of my friend, I was so nervous I had to lie down and close my eyes a while so she could get an accurate read on the EKG before prescribing my first course of treatment. I'm much less nervous now, but it took a long time before I was relaxed and comfortable.

Good luck. To this day the toughest point in my transition was telling my GP. I received the care I need it's just that I was anxious and stress coming into that compared to any other point in my transition. Hugs

Thanks all for your help. By this time it'll be done. My appointment is for 8:40 in the morning. I've told loads of people so far but this will be the hardest. I've been woosing out on this for 3 months now(28 years if you consider when i should have done it, lol).

Well that was almost an anti-climax really. Todays appointment went quite well. In light of what i told him he's gone off to work out where to go next and has reviewed my Diabetic Meds to see if we can change them round to help my weight problems as one of them does cause weight gain. So next week i start on a new drug and loose that one. I now start the rest of my life with the help of my doctor. Thanks all of you for your help, i probably would have chickened out again if i hadn't had your support.

Good on you Sophie for taking that first but vital step. As difficult as it was I bet you feel much better just having talked about it.

That first time it has to come out in words to someone else face to face is definitely the worst, but such a relief at the same time. Congratulations on taking control.

The doctor wasn't the first person I told by a long chalk but was by far the hardest so far. Today, One of the women I meet at a suppliers, offered to teach me to do any make up stuff I need help with, her cousin has recently came out so she's used to it, lol.
Next Difficult step is to find A way to tell My son and his mother. I can see if I don't do this one right i could loose him and give her ammunition against me.
No one said this was easy, and as they used to say in the services in this country, "shouldn't join up if ya can't take a joke"
