I had never heard of Robert Eads that is such a tragic story but it was very sweet of you Tink to take the time to pass it on in memory and tribute to him.

Tink, on behalf of Lola and the rest of Robert's family (TG and real life) thank you. For those of you who never met him, Robert was an old fashioned southern gentleman. I walked up to where Robert and Lola were sitting one night at Southern Comfort and Robert took my hand, looked at me and said, "You look lovely tonight, Beverly." I laughed and told Robert that "he said that to all the girls." Robert got this look on his face that was half devil/half innocent little boy and said, "I know." He was my friend and I miss him.

Asking your doctor is the best approach; having regular exams is also imperative.
when I read what you said here, I took the liberty to find info and came up with zillions of links like these:
http://www.genderandhealth.ca/en/modules/sexandsexuality/gss-transgendered-issues-02.jsp?r=
http://content.karger.com/produktedb/produkte.asp?typ=fulltext&file=GOI2006062004226
http://humrep.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/full/16/1/145
There's tons of information out there; some articles need to be purchased so you may not have access to their entirety. I'm sure that having a hysteroctomy reduces the risks of certain type of cancers (i.e. ovarian), but what about other types? This is why having thorough medical checkups with a physician that knows your TS history is important. :)
