I'm sure many girls know what I mean by the shadow of where a beard grows, and where a mustache grows. I'm only 16, and still not even transitioning unfortunately, but I am getting irritated with my strongly standing out shadows. I've tried shaving straight down to the skin[with a good chance of razor burns..], but my chin has such a funny form[at least to me] that I always end up missing a lot of hairs, and if I get them you can see the remnants. So, mainly I am asking is there a better method to removing this unwanted facial hair without spending a lot of money. [and preferably not make-up either, seeing as how I'm not transitioning yet, that could gooo.. REALLY interesting.  ::)]

Sorry to say but there isn't.  I know what you mean.  You can shave all the hairs from the upper lip, but the shadow still remains.  It becomes really frustrating and any application of makeup will make it look bluish in color.  IMO the most efficient way is to remove these hairs permanently through electrolysis.  It is expensive, very painful and takes a few treatments to eradicate the hairs completely, but it is worth it.  Some electrologists let you buy blocks of time and offer you a discount by doing so.

If electrolysis or laser is something you are not considering you can try to cover the blue shadow up with heavy makeup; there are also some types of makeup formulated especially for TG people.  I have never worn them myself but they could be helpful.

If the upper lip hair is thick enough no amount of shaving will do, the skin just seems to bulge out with the black bulbs just beneath the skin.  I had such a dense moustache at 16 even though I had no beard at all at that age!!

If its thick, no amount of shaving and makeup will truly hide it satisfactorally.

I used to pluck it out, but you have to have an insane patience to do that.

Electrolysis is the way to go (or laser, but I've never used it since I did electro in 1993 before laser).

Well that's unfortunate to hear, but I kind of expected that.  :-\

Thank you however for responding, I guess I'll have to look more into Electrolysis at a later date.

I pluck.  I can't afford the laser to finish my upper lip, it's not like thick thick though, but I pretty much just sit and pluck hairs out of it every single morning.  Once you start doing it every day, then there's less and less that you have to do.  But if you miss a day or two, it starts to stack back up.  But that's the only effective non-electro/laser way to do it that I've found.
