Hi everyone,
I'm Jacob and I live in Massachusetts. I've enjoyed reading posts on this site for quite some time, so I thought I'd join in on the forums. It's taken years for me to come to terms with who I really am - a transguy. I'm now very happy to say I'm one month on T. So far friends and family have been supportive, but the next hurdle is to see how my coworkers handle my transition. A few people at work know (my boss included) and the plan is to come out this week. I'm in a pretty liberal environment being in IT in higher education, so hopefully all goes well.
Other than typical geeky things (computer building, gaming, etc.), I enjoy watching some sports (football, hockey), listening to audio books to unwind, and weather permitting, BBQing. I like tinkering around the house and making attempts at being handy. Current project is learning how to use/maintain a snowblower since we had such a bad winter last year.
Looking forward to chatting and meeting new people.

Having worked as a programmer pretty much all my professional life, I have found if you can deliver what they need, you don't have problems with people in a high tech environment. People who work in that environment tend to be a bit off center and if you over look their differences, they will overlook yours. You don't have to have a friendship, you only need a working relationship that gets the job done. I think you may find coming out at work one of the easer things you will do.
