Hi girls and guys
This forum has been a great help to me over the years and I thought it was about time that I properly registered and introduced myself.
I'm Emma. I've been on hormones since Oct 2014, so a year and a bit. I'm one of Dr Curtis's girls. I'm not full time yet, but getting to the point where I'm not sure its a conscious decision I'm going to have to make, even in "boy mode" I get ma'amed and ladies as much as I do sir (even the other day in a suit, shirt and tie - I was quite impressed with that!). I think the only think holding me back is that I have a young daughter who is my world and who I really want to do best for.
I'm hoping to get involved in plenty of discussions and maybe even one day say something that might help others in the way that I was helped so much!

Hi Emma,
I have two little girls - and they are everything to me so I understand what you said.
From what I have read (and I hope it to be true), children do not discover a sense of gender until around 4 years old.
Take care
Cass

Emma
Welcome and Congratulations! I think I will melt the first time someone calls me ma'am. Still feel it's a million miles away from where I am on my journey. Keep us posted on your progress... Some of us love hearing what we can expect someday! xo - Holly

Laura - thanks for the pointer
Cassie - thanks, and yes, that's what my psych does tell me. He's very relaxed about my daughter being ok, its more my wife being concerned about her being bullied that's the big issue
Holly - its just amazing when it happens. I was in London and had a stream of taxi drivers and their "where to darrhling?". I know some women hate it, but I was loving it!
Kim - Hi Kim, just up the road. I love Blackpool!

Sasha - I was in Chester yesterday! Love it around there. Thanks for the compliments on my pic. I almost cried when she finished my hair, I was so happy! Do say hi if you see me in Manc. Don't get out there much, but me and the girls from work trying to organise a big xmas night out so I'm looking forward to a rare Manc night out. x

No way; I was there on Wednesday having a rare afternoon off to browse! You do look great hun, hair is amazing. I used to have mine done nice all the time, curled and coloured and all sorts but there's no point with a 3 month old lol, it gets ripped out of my head now so I've chopped a lot of it off, it goes down to my boobs now and I'm happy with that. It's usually tied back anyway. Maybe for Christmas I'll treat myself and get my curlers out haha xx

Hi Emma,
A big Aussie welcome to Susan's family. It's good of you to drop in and say "Hi". Hope you like it here, and you stay for a while.
There is a mountain of information, resources and friendship waiting for you here, you just need to jump in start talking and ask any question you like. You're quite safe here and we are very accepting.
Great to hear everything is moving so positively forward for you.
If it helps at all in any way, having past this part of the journey, I think the best thing you can do for your daughter is be the very best you can be to yourself. Living a life of total honesty, reflecting you you really are, not veiled in denial or shame is the hallmark of authenticity.
It's a well know fact, children lack that higher order of verbal communication skills, rely heavily on their non verbal skill to determine how safe, crediable and trustworthy their environment is. In other words, they can see straight through anything you try to hide. Be open, honest and communicate at her level, and I'll guarentee you'll have a devote daughter and friend for life.
Looking forward to hearing more of your story in time to come, but in the meantime, be safe, well and happy.
Speak to you as soon as make the kids lunches.
Lotsa huggs
Catherine
