So, I decided to put my hair in a ponytail today, and this is the result. What do you think?

(Sorry about the grimace and bad lighting in the third one, it was difficult to crane my neck the right way.)

Actually, the lighting varies in each one, which is kinda weird. Probably just the low quality of my webcam...

Hi Thalia,
Sweetie, there is no getting around that awkward several months where your hair is too long to be well-groomed, and too short for a ponytail. Even collar-length hair can be too short for a ponytail. I would wait a bit.
With kindness,
Terri

I'd say its a start.
By the way there are clipin extensions, preferable with real hair. :)

If you use some bobby pins or barrettes, you can tackle the flyaways in back. I love your curls! I wish I was a little less curly... then I could have cute bangs like yours. :)

Unfortunately, for the past couple months, my parents - despite being supportive of my transition - have been telling me to do something with my hair or they'll cut it. Would it be a bad idea to try going out with it in a mini-tail-thing, and if so, why?

I say it wouldn't be a bad idea. They want you to "do something" with your hair. This is something. I think it looks pretty cute, especially considering the length you've got to work with.
Have you tried headbands?

Hmm. That doesn't seem very supportive to me. I don't see how they can be "supportive" of your transitioning and deny you something as simple as letting you grow your hair out. However, if this is not an issue you want to confront them over, then yes, a little "mini-tail" is "doing something about it", just like they asked. Go for it.

No, they're supportive - at least Mom is. I don't really know what my dad thinks, because when he found out he basically said that I shouldn't tell anyone because it'll ruin my reputation, and that he doesn't think I'm a girl. He hasn't said anything about the subject since, and I'd actually rather it stayed that way. Anyways.
Mom's supportive of my transition, but recently she started telling me that my hair was becoming quite unkempt. I have to agree, as I was mostly just letting it poof out at the time. Nowadays, I always brush most of my hair back behind my ears. The problem with that, though, is that my hair tends to poof out again throughout the day.

Bobby pins may help
